WE’RE ON THE MOVE THANKS TO JIMMY CORE FOUNDATION!
If you see us around town in this new chariot, it is thanks to Jimmy CORE Foubdation, which celebrates his memory and continues his legacy of kindness.

The Core Family gathered with many friends this weekend for Jimbopalooza, where they celebrated, granted scholarships, and just kept doing more good. We gained the world’s cutest driver in training.

We are grateful to be a part of keeping Jimmy’s light alive as we serve, shelter and house our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Thank you, Core family!

ROOF ABOVE DAY SERVICES CENTER IS OPEN FOR COOLING💧☀️
Tomorrow, Friday, July 17, we are in for extreme heat with highs of 95° that will feel like 105°.
We want to make sure our whole community knows that Roof Above’s Day services center at 945 North College St. will be open as usual from 9 AM to 4 PM; in fact, we never closed in the wake of severe storm damage that closed our Hub Services building.
We will be here serving lunch at 11:15 AM as we do every day, with water and cool places to get out of the sun.
Nearly all of our services are back online; we don’t have showers every day yet, but we will have shower trucks on site next week Monday through Friday thanks to partners!
We are so grateful for the community outpouring of support since the storm as we have recreated our operations in our Depot Building. We look forward to sharing more about our progress, but first things first– a safe place for our neighbors experiencing homelessness to get out of the heat.

Roof Above’s Day Services Center, located at 945 N. College Street, sustained major storm damage overnight on July 7th, 2026. Our primary services building (known as “The Hub”) will be closed until further notice.

Staff and volunteers worked throughout the day to migrate some services to our adjacent building at the same address, called the Depot.

Some services, such as showers and laundry, will be paused as we continue working to confirm alternate plans.

We are pleased to share that we were able to serve lunch today, with the support of community partners. Chef Sandra Smith says, “We’ve been serving our neighbors lunch for 30 years, and this isn’t going to stop us.”

If you or or your organization would like to get involved as we navigate this crisis, we invite you to:
• Make a donation at bit.ly/RoofAboveStormDamageResponse to provide flexible support, or
• Email mailto:[email protected] to let us know you would like to sponsor a lunch or another service. We will get back to you as quickly as possible!

Thank you for your support as we continue to serve our neighbors experiencing homelessness during this time!

HOW YOU CAN HELP
This weeks’s high temps will be hardest on our neighbors experiencing homelessness - dehydration, heat exhaustion and heat stroke are constant risks.

Our Street Outreach team will be seeking and serving unsheltered neighbors. You can you help by visiting the Outreach Team wishlist at https://bit.ly/49v0neM to donate our current most-needed items (water & cold packs) as well as other summer essentials.

Our Day Services Center will be open from 9am - noon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday offering showers, laundry, mail, phone charging, landlines, and lunch at 11:15!

THANK YOU for caring about all our neighbors, and THANK YOU for joining us in our work to end homelessness in Charlotte, one life at a time!

THE PANTHERS SPREAD JOY AT ROOF ABOVE

May 1 is in honor of and thanks to the Carolina Panthers, it was a truly joyful day at Roof Above’s Day Services Center, where we serve lunch and provide basic services to people experiencing homelessness 365 days a year. This will be a day to remember.

They showed up early, stayed long, played games, talked, danced, served lunch and gave generously in many ways.

Thank you for the time you spent with us today and for supporting our work, our community, and our neighbors.

We will be cheering even louder for you this year! ( even converted a Cowboys fan;)

We are so grateful for the many ways that our donors and volunteers support our mission to end homelessness in Charlotte! Today we want to offer another way you can support our unsheltered neighbors every day.
