THE PANTHERS SPREAD JOY AT ROOF ABOVE

May 1 is in honor of and thanks to the Carolina Panthers, it was a truly joyful day at Roof Above’s Day Services Center, where we serve lunch and provide basic services to people experiencing homelessness 365 days a year. This will be a day to remember.

They showed up early, stayed long, played games, talked, danced, served lunch and gave generously in many ways.

Thank you for the time you spent with us today and for supporting our work, our community, and our neighbors.

We will be cheering even louder for you this year! ( even converted a Cowboys fan;)

HOUSING IMPACT FUND ANNOUNCES $102M TO PRESERVE AFFORDABLE HOUSING

We are so grateful for the innovation and collaboration that exists within our community! The Housing Impact Fund has raised another $102 million to preserve an estimated 1,500 units of Naturally Occurring Affordable Housing (NOAH) in our community by 2028.

We believe this is one of the most impactful interventions happening in the affordable housing space. Congratulations our partners at Housing Impact Fund and housing, and thank you to their investors!

We look forward to helping end homelessness for people by connecting them to your properties!

CAN YOU HELP MAKE SURE OUR NEIGHBORS HAVE FRESH WATER WITH LUNCH EVERY DAY?

We are so grateful for the many ways that our donors and volunteers support our mission to end homelessness in Charlotte! Today we want to offer another way you can support our unsheltered neighbors every day.

Our Day Services Center serves lunch 365 days a year, including bottled water because it is portable. We could use your help as we work to stock up for summer!

CHAPLAIN BEVERLY’S PRAYER CARD MINISTRY

Beverly is a Chaplain in Training at Atrium Health, and Roof Above is honored to be a training site for her and the other interns in the program.

She provides a listening ear when our neighbors want to talk, but some prayer requests are hard to share out loud, and she’s not on campus all the time.

Her prayer card ministry allows her to expand her presence and her prayers, and helps our neighbors and tenants feel heard.

C.W. Williams Community Health Center’s goal is to extend the reach of affordable healthcare to everyone, especially the most vulnerable among us.

Their clinics on our campus do just that, and we are proud to partner and expand the services that we offer our neighbors!

We operate multiple shelters and housing locations, but for many of the neighbors experiencing homelessness that we serve, this is where their journey with Roof Above starts.

We serve lunch 365 days a year and offer an array of basic services design to support people experiencing homelessness and help them move into shelter and ultimately housing.

Those services include showers, laundry, phone charging, the use of landline phones, and nursing care. In addition we offer ID clinics, help with food stamp applications, and Coordinated Entry interviews that allow neighbors to begin to connect with housing and shelter resources.

Last but certainly not least, the Day Services Center is the launching point for Room in the Inn, our emergency Winter shelter program in which 65+ host sites open their doors to provide life-saving shelter from December through March.

It’s a special place and we welcome you to join us in our mission - to unite the community to end homelessness and Charlotte, one life at a time.
