***SCANS UPDATE***
We apologize for keeping everyone waiting. Please know that you all are very important to us and we do try to keep everyone informed as quickly as possible, however we needed some time to not only process all that is going on, but also to make sure that the information we are giving is accurate.
This breaks my heart to say, however there is no easy way for me to write this, so I will just go ahead with the results. It is with great sadness that I inform you all that Brooklyn's scans have shown that the cancer has returned. This is now the 4th time that Brooklyn has to fight cancer. It appears as though she has quite a few lesions throughout the chest region and the cancer has also spread to a few lymph nodes mostly in her chest with one or two in her abdomen. These results have been very difficult for us to process as it was only 3 months ago that her scans were completely clear. We are devastated and heartbroken, however, we know that she will once again beat this monster and we refuse to think any differently. Brooklyn is the most amazing young woman who has unfairly been dealt a terrible hand. Somehow she has continued to always keep a positive outlook and a love for life. We can't allow her to think any differently this time around, she has to remain positive and hopeful. She is honestly the strongest person I know and we owe it to her stay positive and never give up on her, as she would never give up on us. This girl has fought so hard for the past 3 years and she has beaten cancer 3 times. With everyone's prayers and support, Brooklyn will beat this again...for the 4th time. She has earned her place in this world and if anyone deserves to be here, it is her. So please stand with us once again, as we continue to fight this battle. We know this is not going to be easy, but we are ready to beat this ugly beast once and for all.
We are not sure what treatment is going to look like yet, however, the doctors were going to present her case to the board yesterday and come up with a plan. We should be hearing from them sometime today and then we will have a good idea of what the next steps are. We feel that the least damaging option for treatment will be for Brooklyn to have surgery to remove the cancer and then get radiation afterwards. Brooklyn always does so well with surgery and she always recovers rather quickly. However, treatment that consists of more intense chemotherapy, will be very hard on her so we are hoping to avoid that route. Intense Chemotherapy takes its toll on her and makes her very weak, what we need most is for her to keep her strength because it looks like this fight is going to be even harder to win this time around.
Thank you all who continue to pray for Brooklyn and send her cards, and gifts,and those who have helped us as well. Having you all in our corner has been a true blessing for our family and you guys have been the greatest support system that anyone could have ever asked for. We are truly grateful for you all, we honestly could not have gotten this far without you. This news is hard to swallow, but with everyone's prayers and support, we know that Brooklyn's got this!
