The final whistle has blown. ⚽️🌎Spain 1, Argentina 0. In overtime, in front of the world. What a tournament!

Over the past several weeks, we watched something remarkable unfold…not just on the pitch, but everywhere around it. The skill and intensity of the play was breathtaking. But what moved us most wasn’t any single goal or save.

It was the people.

Across the United States, communities opened their doors-and their hearts-to visitors from every corner of the globe. Strangers became adoring neighbors. People learned new languages, new traditions, and new ways of seeing the world. They sent people home with good memories.

And apparently, a deep appreciation for Ranch dressing.😀

The halftime message of love and unity wasn’t just a performance.🎵❤️ It was a reflection of what had been happening in real time, in cities and stadiums and living rooms all summer long.

At North Fulton United, we recognized all of it. ⚽️ Because it’s exactly what we try to build every Sunday in Spring and Fall.

The awareness, the curiosity, and the willingness to step into someone else’s world and discover that there’s so much more that connects us than divides us. That’s what happens when a partner steps onto the field alongside one of our specially abled players for the first time. That’s what happens when a coach sees a player do something they’ve been working toward for weeks. And that’s what happens when a family watches their child not only belong but thrive.

The World Cup cameras have moved on, and the trophies have been handed out.

NFU hasn’t gone anywhere. We will be back on the field this Fall, doing what we’ve done for 10 years: building community, one Sunday at a time.💙

But this story is about so much more than one unforgettable moment — it’s about kindness, sportsmanship, hard work, inclusion, and a young man who loves the game with his whole heart. 💙

The Coca-Cola Company Kaitlyn Ross

There was only one teenager from Georgia standing at midfield before the FIFA Club World Cup match.

He earned that moment with kindness.

Fifteen-year-old Portland Chislett was chosen to help with the pregame coin toss before a FIFA Club World Cup knockout match at Atlanta Stadium, an opportunity that put him on one of the biggest stages in soccer.

His coach says Portland was chosen because he's kind.

Because he encourages his teammates.

Because his enthusiasm is contagious.

Because he loves the game with his whole heart.

Portland plays for NFU, an inclusive soccer league for athletes with disabilities.

When Coca-Cola asked the league to nominate a young athlete willing to put in the work to earn this opportunity, Portland was the easy choice.

He completed every required class, earned his place on the field and got the full VIP experience, including an official soccer kit and a ride to the stadium.

When I asked if he was nervous, Portland just smiled.

"No, I am EXCITED!”

His coach, Marty Jelleme, told me he's the one who will probably cry.

"The fact that he gets the opportunity to do that is just a great thing. I am speechless."

For one unforgettable night, the world got to see Portland at midfield.

His coach saw exactly what he'd hoped everyone else would see all along: a remarkable young man whose kindness, sportsmanship and joy for the game made him the perfect choice 💙
