Rocky River Trout Unlimited Chapter 348 of Trout Unlimited, founded in 1981 by conservationists that wanted to help protect North Carolina's cold water resources.

RRTU has over 700 members in the Greater Charlotte NC area and promotes Conservation through education and activities. RRTU works through State and local agencies as well as nation conservation agencies to promote our Mission Statement. We have donated money to help purchase tracts of land ajacent to streams, build a foot bridge over a reclaimed stream, held stream clean ups on several mountain streams and sponsored several students to a youth conservation camp in the summer months. We have partnered with 6 local schools in the area to have a Trout In the Classroom program. The TIC program takes trout eggs from the NCWRC and raises trout fry to be released in the wild at the end of the school year.

The USDA's proposal to repeal the 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule would open our roadless public lands up to harmful development, including road construction in backcountry areas that will compromise fish and wildlife habitat and increase wildfire risk.

The comment deadline is October 6.

Just a quick update to our volunteers planning to assist us at the South Mountains State Park Nature Day. The event has been cancelled this year due trail closures and staffing shortages. We hope to partner with the Park on this fun event next year.
