The Word on the Street for this week was…TRANSFORMATION! As we walked through sermonic conversations about Jesus’ Transfiguration (Matthew 17) we were often reminded of the transformation that occurs when we, as His followers, “listen to Him” by loving both God and neighbor. May we continue to be transformed as Jesus’ eternal light of love shines through us all!

The Word on the Street for this week was…JOY! We began this week of Joy by having some younger folks from Assurance UMC out to the Hope Chapel to serve. Then, as usual, we continued to share the joy that can be found in the Lord through the sharing of ice cream and hot meals throughout the rest of the week (John 15:11-12). If you wish to be a part of the joy, feel free to message us!

The Word on the Street for this week has been…TEAMWORK! Great teamwork has been especially evident through the work of our “Roof Above Wednesdays” team. Because of them, our transition to sharing the love of Jesus outside, as Roof Above’s primary facility is being repaired, has went quite smoothly. Through the Scriptures we are reminded that we, as the followers of Jesus, should indeed gather in such ways in order to “spur one another on” to even more love and good deeds (Henrews 10:24).

The Word on the Street for this week has been…LEADERSHIP. We have been blessed to have so many authentic followers of Jesus help to lead us this week. Whether it be through the spreading of mulch and cleaning, through the preparing and sharing of ice cream sundaes and meals, or through expressions of musical gifts and testimonies, God has continued to make the gatherings of Word on the Street places through which Christian leadership is both practiced and made. As the Scriptures remind us, leadership is especially practiced and made through such service (Mark 10:43–45). Thanks be to God for such great leadership this week!

The Word on the Street for this week has been…THANKFULNESS! Thankfulness is not something we should only be focused on during the Fall. Instead, it is something that should be practiced at all times…even during the heat of the Summer. Specifically, we were thankful to be able to pay our respects to the family of Bobby Curtis, one of the founders of the Hope Chapel. He joined the Church Triumphant last week. Then, we were thankful to be back at Roof Above’s Day Services Center on Wednesday. We were able to share ice cream and worship there as their primary building is being repaired after storm damage. Finally, we were able to give thanks today at the Hope Chapel for another opportunity to share a meal and worship. We were even able to celebrate the gift of some new picnic tables that will help in the sharing of meals there moving forward. It is through such thankfulness to Jesus that we can truly be made “whole” (Luke 17:11-19).
