Located in the heart of the historic Arts district, NoDa, the Johnston YMCA features two fitness centers, group exercise, aquatics, arts programming for adults/youth, and sports. Founded in 1948, the Johnston YMCA is often referred to as “the Heart of NoDa.” Our branch reflects the eclectic nature of our community and the over 4,000 members that we serve. The Johnston Otters had their very first dryland practice yesterday, and what a great time it was! πŸ¦¦πŸ’™

A huge thank you to Carl Hart, better known as β€œMr. Carl” to our swimmers, for joining us from our Sports Department. He did an amazing job leading fun activities, team-building exercises, and dryland workouts while making sure our athletes had a fun and safe experience.

Our swimmers worked together, encouraged one another, and continued building the strong team culture that makes the Otters so special. As they prepare for their upcoming meet this weekend, we couldn’t be more proud of their hard work and enthusiasm.

Thank you, Mr. Carl, for helping make our first dryland practice such a success!

Our Summer Camp staff at Johnston have been working hard to get everything ready for an amazing summer. We can't wait to fill our halls with art, laughter, creativity, and fun starting Monday!

We had an uplifting experience as a Johnston team as we kicked off the meeting discussing the principal of the month with Pastor Daniel from NoDa Church. Then we refreshed our understanding on safety tools and departmental updates along with participating in a group ex demo, and finishing up with a sip and paint. What a great first meet of the season for our Johnston Otters! πŸ¦¦πŸ’™

Today, our swimmers competed at the Simmons YMCA against the Morrison Manta Rays, Simmons Seahawks, and Keith Gators. After only four weeks of practice, our team showed incredible determination, sportsmanship, and Otter pride.

For many of our swimmers, this was their very first swim meet, and they did an amazing job stepping up to the challenge. We are so proud of how much they have learned and grown in such a short time.

Way to go, Otters! πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’™

Summer Camp Training Day 2 was a splash of success at Johnston YMCA! πŸŒŠβ˜€οΈ

Today our staff focused on all things Aquatics and Risk Management, building the skills and knowledge needed to create a safe, fun, and memorable camp experience for every camper this summer.

Of course, we made time for some creativity too! Our team had a blast designing this week's Character of the Week: **SpongeBob SquarePants** πŸπŸ§½πŸ’›

The excitement is building as we continue preparing for an amazing summer ahead. We can't wait to welcome our campers soon!

Our first day of Summer Camp Training was a success! β˜€οΈπŸŽ‰

It was exciting to have most of our summer crew together in one place as we kicked off the season. Staff participated in Center & Team Orientation, Day Camp 101/102, and Working with Campers 101/102, all while building connections and preparing for an amazing summer ahead.

We also toured all of our camp spaces and got a firsthand look at where the fun, learning, creativity and memories will happen over the next few months.

We can't wait to continue our trainings this week and keep building an incredible team ready to make this the best summer yet! 🌟😎
