Welcome to Kim’s Chemo Care Program.
In November of 1983 my grandpa died from lung cancer. At this time I was in the 6th grade and wasn’t really understanding what he was going through or what cancer really meant. My grandpa, which is what I called him, was the ONLY man that truly loved me unconditionally and I loved him just that much as well. I tried to follow him everywhere that he went, whether it was outside to feed the hogs or getting eggs out of the chicken coop. However back when I was coming up it was boys work outside in the yard and little girls work inside the house (cooking, cleaning etc).
Grandpa was respected by everyone who met him. I remember hearing others say “I’ll always remember what Mr. Ritter, Mr. Pony (what some called him) told me a long time ago….” when I hear that even to this day, I say “none like grandpa”. I love my grandpa so much that I named my son after him. All of his great grandchildren missed out on the most Well Mannered, Wisest man of all time.
Later in life I met someone who became a really good friend and she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I actually spent a lot of time with her from appointments to outings to dinners etc. She passed in November of 2019 this is when I felt obligated to give back to the community. That’s when I started donating Cancer Care Packets to the Levine Cancer Center in Charlotte NC.
To my grandpa, Abraham Ritter Sr., who would have been 107 years-old this is in remembrance of you. I love you and miss you dearly!!! When I think of you I always here you asking, “where is Kim, I haven’t seen her smile in a while”, “I’m here grandpa and I’m smiling”.
