Ballantyne Families Helping Neighbors in Need

Ballantyne Families Helping Neighbors in Need Ballantyne Families Helping Neighbors in Need was started in the fall of 2019. What makes it even more exciting is that over 200 families participated!

Ballantyne Families Helping Neighbors in Need is a grassroots 501(c)(3) serving families facing food insecurity in Ballantyne-area public schools through food drives, grocery support, and a community pantry. We talked with school counselors for all the schools that feed into Ardrey Kell High School (Ballantyne, Elon Park, Endhaven, Hawk Ridge, and Polo Elementary Schools, Community House and JM Ro

binson Middle Schools and Ardrey Kell High School) and found out there were 100 families in need that attend our schools. As a result of the need, the Ballantyne community came together in a HUGE way to help these families for Thanksgiving. By working with all of the different school communities, we raised almost $10,000 in food and gift cards - AMAZING! With schools canceling suddenly because of the Coronavirus, this group jumped quickly into action to help families in need in our area. Many of these families depend on the schools to provide breakfast and lunch for their kids. Within 24 hours, we raised almost $12,000 in donations (roughly $4000 in monetary donations), along with countless amounts of food and got the food in the hands of the families who needed it (3/16/20). This food drive was focused on breakfast and lunch items. Now, we are focused on our 2nd drive and more dinner based items. Food donations are needed by end of day, Wednesday, March 25. Food will be given to families in need on Sunday, March 29 from 3-5 at South Meck Presbyterian Church by Ballantyne CMS staff to protect the privacy of these families. Thanks to those who have already supported our efforts and thanks to those who will help in the future. Together, we can make a positive difference in many of our neighbors' lives during this very challenging time.

This year we experienced unprecedented growth in the number of families served and pantry orders filled - you can see the numbers below. We know the need is often hidden in Ballantyne, but the data tells us it is increasing. We are blessed to have generous donors, volunteers, and partners that allow us to meet our neighbors where they are and continue to provide help. đź’™

We will be taking a break over the summer but will be ready to pick up where we left off when school starts in August. Thank you for being part of our organization and making a meaningful difference in the lives of our local families!

volunteered at the pantry last week. They packaged food for families and delivered food bags to area schools.

Their group was incredibly generous and helped stock the pantry with non perishables from our Amazon Wish List.

Thank you for your time and your generosity.

Thank you for coming to our pantry and your support.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers. We are so grateful for our volunteers and community groups who write and create encouraging notes to our families.

Note cards will be included to every family receiving gift cards this summer.

If you would like to participate, we are always looking for more individuals and groups to write notes. No effort is too small and it will have a huge impact.

Thank you. đź’™

Because of this incredible community, I am proud to share that we met 100% of our fundraising goal for the Summer Food Support campaign! This year we will provide food assistance to 110 local families over the summer - which is the largest number of families helped in our six-year history.

What is remarkable is that donations came from individuals, families, and corporate partners - each playing an important role in helping us reach our largest goal to date. I want to specifically thank Novant Health - Ballantyne, Brighthouse Financial, Sundt Foundation, and Speedway Children’s Charities for their gifts, which provided a significant boost to our fundraising efforts.

Thank you also to the Ardrey Kell PTSO, Jay M. Robinson PTA, and Hawk Ridge PTA for making donations.

Your generosity continues to show what a compassionate community can accomplish when we come together to care for one another.

Thank you for helping us make a meaningful difference for local families.
