The Pepper family wanted to say hi and let you know there is no spiciness left. Just pure sweet sugar. Maybe we should rename them after honey!

How cool.

In Italy, a quiet kindness now curls beneath city benches. Along sidewalks in several towns, small wooden cubbies have been discreetly installed to shelter stray cats—each tucked under public seating where paws often wander. Inside, there’s a soft cushion to stay warm and dry, and a clean plate with food regularly refilled by local volunteers.

These sidewalk shelters are simple but powerful. Built low and safe from foot traffic, they give cats a peaceful place to rest without being disturbed or shooed away. In some neighborhoods, children help decorate them, turning each one into a tiny home with personality. Seniors often bring scraps or fresh water, and tourists pause with smiles, snapping photos of sleeping tabbies curled in comfort.

What makes this effort special isn’t just the design—it’s the quiet respect for street animals who often go unseen. Italy’s approach doesn’t remove strays but invites them into public life with safety and dignity. The cubbies are becoming gentle symbols of compassion stitched into everyday spaces.

Across cities, benches now carry more than people. They cradle small lives that once shivered alone, showing that kindness can be built into concrete, wood, and habit. A little warmth underfoot goes a long way.

We often say “no good deed goes unpunished” so we would like to introduce you to the “Pepper” family…Jalapeño, Serrano, Habanero, Pablano and Bell. While they did their best to be spicy they have already turned into the sweetest kittens ever ok. I know. We say that about every litter.

A few weeks ago we received a call from Zelda’s family. There was a litter of kittens living on their neighbor’s property. We explained we were full and the best option may be TNR or to surrender to their local shelter. I should have known better than to ask Myra to drop off some traps and assess the situation. Before we knew it five adorable fluff balls were on their way home with her.

When I laid eyes on the Tuxie (Poblano)…..I knew in an instant we were dealing with a ringworm litter. Which all in all is no big deal and not life threatening, as it is just a skin fungus, but it does take a while to clear up and so we have begun the protocol to treat these awesome kittens. We do have to keep their space easy to clean and sanitize and so they have come to know me as their human cat tree on my multiple play date visits each day.

These babies are going to make the BEST holiday additions to any family so please reach out to learn all about them.

On another note we are THRILLED to let you know
that Pita and Challah me their perfect family today and will be going home together on Wednesday!
