We’re excited to announce the winners of this Spring’s Food Sovereignty Food Box Recipe & Appreciation contest! Thank you to everyone who participated and enjoyed the Food Box distributions, your creativity and enthusiasm truly nourish our community.

Havilah Burton is working on her Masters Project and is requesting participation in two surveys. She has been working closely with the Food Sovereignty Program on various projects. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey. Your participation is invaluable.

Hello! I hope you are having a wonderful summer and enjoying the local bounty around us at this time of year! I am working on my Masters Project right now, and for the project am doing two different surveys looking at local food patterns of people who live on the Flathead Reservation. I am trying to reach as many residents of the area as I can, so I am asking for your help both in taking my surveys and sharing them liberally in your circles of influence!

The first survey is designed for anyone who eats and lives on the Flathead Reservation: https://montana.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0ktrVpuXmYeEFbE

The second survey is aimed at anyone on the Reservation who works in the food system in any way, from growing/raising food or feed, to transportation or production, to cooking or service. I had a request from a young person who is about to head out for her second year at North Central College in Chicago, IL, studying Nutrition Science. Tirza Twoteeth heads back to school in a couple weeks but wanted to squeeze in some food preservation. She brought in stuff to make a huckleberry jam, pickles and dilly beans. I was thrilled to spend the afternoon teaching her. If you happen to now this young woman, you know she gives tirelessly to our community. I’m confident the skill taught today will be taught by her someday!
