Charlo Community Outdoor Complex

“To support, encourage and inspire our youth in the discovery of their own unique skills and abilities; to strengthen
and to instill in them the values and qualities essential in developing thoughtful, confident and productive young
men and women.”

October 2015

Dear fellow Charlo Alumni,

We the Charlo Community Outdoor Complex (CCOC) committee, have sta

rted the process to update the
football playing surface and the track at the Charlo School. We are here to inspire the youth of our
community by creating a safer environment for them to use during school as well as after school. A large number of student/athletes use the track and football field. The younger kids use the facilities
during recess and their physical education class. The middle school and high school aged students use
the track and field for their physical education classes as well as for practices for football or track. The
track would be utilized by the community members that choose to have a safe area to walk. There are four areas of improving the complex.

1. Football Field playing surface
* it is currently unsafe and is uneven
* the center of field is flat and does not drain properly
* we plan on re-crowning the football field and will be laying sod

2. Track resurfacing
* the track is 45 years old and is outdated
* resurface the running surface as well as the field event runways
with a rubberized material

3. Football lighting
* the lighting system is 40 years old
* currently poor lighting coverage on the football field
* the new system will be more energy efficient
* the new system will also be repositioned to better light the football field
and also the track. This would allow the opportunity to host events on the track
in the evening.

4. Irrigation
* a new underground irrigation system will be put in

The cost of this project is approximately $600,000. We are hoping to raise as much of that total cost
through alumni donations, corporate donations, and grants. We would like to receive donations now so
we can use this money for match money when applying for grants. In past projects, the school district has been able to access state funds through running a bond. Those
state funds have offset 2/3 of the costs of projects with the other 1/3 costing the school district. There
is NO guarantee those funds will be available to our district at that rate in the future. We are optimistic
that the school board would support running a bond and voters would approve that bond. This could
allow for funding the remainder of the expenses to the project with no cost to taxpayers. Again, there
are no guarantees but we remain optimistic about funding. Please stay updated on this project by following us on Facebook at Charlo
Community Outdoor Complex. Each of us on the Charlo Community Outdoor Complex Committee thank
you for your donation!! Our committee consists of the following people:

We are thrilled to announce that an anonymous donor has generously stepped forward with the remaining funds needed to complete the Charlo Community Outdoor Complex (CCOC)!
This incredible gift brings us to 100% of our fundraising goal and allows us to move forward immediately with construction and completion of the project. Thanks to the unwavering support of our community, local businesses, organizations, and now this generous anonymous donor, the dream of a vibrant new outdoor sporting complex for Charlo is becoming a reality.
This facility will provide our families, youth, and residents with a modern space to play, train, compete, and come together for years to come.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed — whether through donations, volunteer hours, attendance at fundraisers, or words of encouragement. A special thank you to our anonymous donor for their extraordinary kindness and belief in this project.
Stay tuned for updates as we break ground and move toward completion. We can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with all of you!
With gratitude,
The Charlo Community Outdoor Complex Board of Directors

The CCOC is pleased to announce it has been awarded $2000
through AgWest Farm Credit’s Rural Community Grant program to be used towards our track project.
AgWest’s Rural Community Grants provide funds to non-profit organizations for projects
that improve rural communities within Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. This includes efforts such as building or improving facilities; purchasing necessary equipment to facilitate a local program; and funding capital
improvements which enhance a community’s infrastructure, viability and prosperity.
A great big thank you to AgWest for supporting our project!

Way to go Karson!

🏀✨ Huge congratulations to Karson Cox from Charlo High School – our male MHSA Athlete of the Week! 🙌

Karson delivered jaw-dropping performances over the weekend. Against St. Regis, he recorded 19 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 assists. The next night, he exploded for 54 points (likely a school record) vs. Noxon, along with 9 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 assists. 🔥 He shot 45% overall, showing grit and determination in both games! 💪

Way to dominate, Karson! Your hard work and dedication inspire us all. 👏 Nominate the next Athlete of the Week here: [https://www.mhsa.org/athleteoftheweek]

Thanks to Summit States Agency Group and Farmers Union Insurance for supporting Montana’s standout athletes!
