Charlevoix Area Garden Club

Charlevoix Area Garden Club Organized 1939 - Federated 1949 - 501(c)(3) Public Charity 2004 Flower Arranging/Design - est. in 1995, the club has recognized 41 members with this award.

CAGC is also dedicated to several Community Projects and committees work on those projects: Adopt-a-Highway - since 1991 club members have picked up litter three times a year on this MDOT project. Beautification awards have been presented each year since 2003 to winning merchants in our Awards program to recognize merchants and others for container plantings and gardens and for civic displays. A

Book Review/Community Education committee (est. 1986) purchases and donates books to our public library for their gardening section to further educational gardening goals. Conservation is important to our members and this committee (est. 1985) interacts with conservation groups and provides members with current information on conservation concerns. in 1968, members of this committee develop skill in flower arranging techniques and ultimately, creates and donates arrangements within the club and to other non-profit community organizations and events. Michigan Garden Club (MGC) Life Memberships are awarded annually to club members who have made a significant contribution to the Club's mission and the community - est. Scholarships (est. 1995) - Members are awarded scholarships to attend approved National Garden Club(NGC)/MGC Schools, including Landscape Design. Youth Education - est. 1991 - this committee works with kindergarten through fifth grade art teachers in two area schools to develop instructional modules and assist students as they create posters for the NGC, NGC Central Region, MGC and CAGC poster contests.

You can create habitat in your yard. Reduce the amount of lawn you have. Use only organic fertilizers to feed the soil. Replace turf with native plants and create a mini ecosystem in your yard.

Our Community Vegetable Garden Project has been awarded two National Garden Clubs Inc. grants for the 2026 growing season! We donated over 400 lbs of organically grown produce to the Charlevoix Community Food Pantry last season and we are looking to do much more this year! Read our blog to find out what we have planned:

Join the Little Traverse Conservancy and Tip of the Mitt Whitetails for this upcoming Apple Pruning Workshop at the Elizabeth B. Hoffmann Nature Preserve adjacent to Bier's Inwood Brewery near Charlevoix.
