You're invited to the first meeting of the Southern Indiana Disability Advocacy Coalition (SIDAC).

If you or someone you love is affected by a disability β€” developmental disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, or anything in between β€” this group is for you. Whether you're an individual living with a disability, a parent, family member, or advocate, your voice and experience matter here.

SIDAC exists to bring people together to share resources, build community, and advocate for a stronger future for people with disabilities across Southern Indiana. No matter what county you're in, you belong in this conversation. Our priorities will be shaped by what members identify as most important β€” so the work truly starts with you.

πŸ“… Tuesday, April 14
πŸ•‘ 6:30 – 8:00 PM
πŸ“ Zoom

Our first meeting will focus on introductions, learning who's in the room, and identifying the needs our communities are facing.
If there is strong interest, a daytime meeting option may also be added.

Through her founding of the Disability Visibility Project, Alice Wong amplified the lived experiences and stories of people with disabilities.

In the wake of her passing last year, her advocacy continues to shape national conversations around accessibility and the rights of disabled people.

Adult-Size Changing Tables To Be Required At Major Airports
by Michelle Diament

Many airports will soon be required to provide changing tables for adults with disabilities. Now federal officials are looking for input on how to go about implementing the new mandate. The adult-size changing tables, which are larger and studier than the ones meant for babies, are intended for individuals with disabilities who need assistance from a caregiver with toileting and dressing.

Under the 2024 FAA Reauthorization Act, all medium and large airports seeking federal airport development project grants must have at least one private universal changing station in each terminal starting in 2030.
