Silver Creek Watershed Improvement Project Silver Creek Watershed is located in the Indiana Counties of Clark, Scott and Floyd. Silver Creek watershed contains 97,442.9 total acres.

The Cities or Towns of Jeffersonville, Clarksville, New Albany, Memphis, Sellersburg, Charlestown, and Henryville are all located in the watershed. Of these acres, about 28% is urban/suburban land, 36% forest, 25% crop and livestock, the remaining 11% is considered miscellaneous use.

The Clark County Ohio River Sweep is scheduled for Saturday, June 15th. Clark County locations are: Falls of the Ohio State Park, Ashland Park, and Charlestown State Park Boat Ramp. Check in stations for the event will open at 8:30 a.m. The event will end at 11:30 a.m. Trash bags and gloves will be provided, and each volunteer will receive a free T-shirt. All participants must sign a waiver of liability (parents/guardians must sign for minor children). Mark your calendars! The Annual Used Oil Collection Day for Clark County residents has been scheduled for Thursday, April 5th at the Clark County 4-H Fairgrounds. This event is sponsored by the Clark County Farm Bureau Inc., the Clark County SWCD, and the 14-Mile Creek/Goose Creek Watershed Improvement Project.

Mark your calendar for the annual Clark County Ohio River Sweep on Saturday, June 10th.

Make plans to attend the annual Clark County Ohio River Sweep on Saturday, June 10th. Check-in stations located at Clarksville's Ashland Park, the Falls of the Ohio State Park, and at Charlestown State Park will open at 8:30 a.m. The event will end at 11:30 a.m.

Trash bags, gloves will be provided and each volunteer will receive a free T-shirt. Groups with minors are asked to contact the event coordinator, Tom Clevidence at: (812) 243-8233 ext. 101 for early registration.

The Clark County River Sweep is coordinated by the Clarksville Public Works Department in cooperation with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources at the Falls of the Ohio State Park, Charlestown State Park, the Clarksville Parks Department, and the Southern Indiana Stormwater Advisory Committee. The Ohio River Sweep event encompasses over 3,000 miles of Ohio River shoreline between Pennsylvania and Illinois and is organized by ORSANCO-Ohio River Valley Sanitation Commission.

Living Lands and Waters is known as the only industrial strength river cleanup, non-profit organization in the world, and they have officially arrived in Charlestown State Park!

Activities of the Clark County Soil & Water Conservation District during the Clark County 4-H Fair have been announced.

The Clark County Soil and Water Conservation District welcomes visitors of the 4-H Fair to our Natural Resources Exhibit Area. We have many exciting things planned for the week of the Fair (July 11-July 15th) beginning at 6:00 p.m. each evening.

While much of the state has had a break in the weather, allowing growers to get out in the field, south-eastern Indiana still remains extremely wet. Estimates suggest that at least 50% of the fields throughout the area have yet to be planted, and in Clark County alone, the longest period between rain events since late April 28 has only lasted four days, which doesn’t give the field time to dry out enough to allow the growers to return to planting. Below is an example of a corn field that remains unplanted due to the heavy rains:
