The CCSD Education Foundation today announced the appointment of Cass Cibelli to its Board of Directors. Cibelli will represent District 1, filling the seat recently vacated by Catherine Templeton, who has stepped into the role of Interim Executive Director of the Foundation.

Cibelli brings more than three decades of experience in educational leadership and school administration, including service as a principal and district-level administrator across public school systems in New York and South Carolina.

The CCSD Education Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Catherine Templeton as Interim Executive Director.

Templeton brings more than three decades of executive leadership experience spanning the public, private, nonprofit, and legal sectors. Throughout her career, she has built organizations, led complex operations, secured transformational philanthropic support, and developed strategic partnerships that deliver lasting community impact.

Bright Ideas Microgrant Winner Spotlight ⭐ 🎸

Congratulations to Necie Wald of Drayton Hall Elementary School, recipient of a Bright Ideas Microgrant for Science of Sound with Electric Guitars!

This hands-on project will help students explore the science behind sound, vibration and music through engaging, interactive learning experiences. By combining creativity with STEM concepts, students will have the opportunity to discover how science and music work together in the world around them.

We're proud to support innovative projects that spark curiosity, encourage exploration and make learning unforgettable.

Meet Patrick Martin. 👋

Patrick is an English teacher at the Charleston County School of the Arts, CCSD's 2026 Teacher of the Year, a Bright Ideas Microgrant winner, and this year, his classroom is becoming a model for the entire district.

As one of 20 educators selected for CCSD's new Learning Leaders pilot program, Patrick will open his classroom to fellow teachers, lead professional development and help bring the best instructional practices to more students across Charleston County.
