For Breastfeeding Awareness Month, we're proud to highlight one of our amazing Milk Drop Depot locations!

📍 Horry County Clemson Extension has been a valued MMBSC depot site for the past four years, helping local donors make a lifesaving impact. Thanks to the dedication of Site Champion Bailee and the generosity of Horry County donors, more than 17,000 ounces of donor milk have been collected and sent to the Mothers' Milk Bank of South Carolina!

Our depot site champions are the heart of our statewide donation network, making it easier for approved donors to share their extra milk with vulnerable infants in need. 🤱The Journey of Human Milk Donation from Donor Approval to PDHM Distribution 🍼

Every bottle of Pasteurized Donor Human Milk (PDHM) begins with the generosity of a donor and undergoes a rigorous process to ensure safety and quality.

✅Donor Approval: Prospective donors complete health screenings, blood testing, and healthcare provider verification before being approved to donate.

📦Depot site Drop-Off: Approved donors can conveniently drop off milk at one of our depot sites across SC. Once enough milk is collected, our dedicated Depot Site Champions coordinate shipment to the milk bank.

🍼Processing & Pasteurization: Donor milk is carefully analyzed, pooled, processed, pasteurized, and tested for safety and nutritional quality. Only milk that meets strict standards is approved for distribution.

🏥Distribution: After passing multiple quality and safety checks, PDHM is shipped to hospitals and outpatient infants, helping provide lifesaving nutrition to premature and medically fragile babies throughout the state.
