This year’s recipient of the Jordan Holly Memorial Scholarship is Cassidy Logue! Cassidy will be attending EIU in the fall with the aim of becoming a pediatric nurse. She has already been a nurse to kids (baby goats that is) for many years as a member of her 4-H club. She also has a lot of experience babysitting; and Jordan herself, once babysat her. She recently completed an internship in the labor and delivery department at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital. When she was a child, she played nurse—and now she will have the chance to live it. Congratulations Cassidy!

An update from Mallie Hanner, the 2021 recipient of the Jordan Holly Memorial scholarship: "I am currently working as a bedside RN in St. Louis Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit! After graduating from nursing school in May and taking my boards, I spent the summer traveling before I started my full time position in September. I feel so lucky every day to get to work with some of the tiniest, but strongest patients around! I hope to honor Jordan’s memory by “doing everything in love” for my patients, just as I know she would have 🩷. Thank you to the Holly family and everyone else who has contributed to this beautiful way to remember such a sweet girl!"

Thanks to their generous donation, we are estimating that this spring's JHMS award will exceed 8000 dollars!! On this Thanksgiving eve we are especially grateful to Zach Newell for hosting the event, and Lisa Gregor from Church Street Brewery (https://churchstreetbrew.com/) and Paul Koerner from Koerner's Distributors (https://koernerdistributor.com/) for their support.

Millie Richter is this year’s recipient of the Jordan Holly Memorial Scholarship! Millie will be attending EIU this coming fall and majoring in Communication Disorders and Sciences with the aim of becoming a school speech language pathologist. She is graduating in the top 2% of her class. Millie has interned at Cumberland Elementary School and at Mark Twain in Charleston. At Cumberland she worked in a second-grade classroom, and at Mark Twain split her time between kindergarten and assisting with the pre-K speech pathology program. Millie volunteers at her church, works as a lifeguard, and is a CHS cheerleader. It especially warms our heart to know that she once cheered with Jordan. We are honored to award this scholarship to Millie and to help her realize her dream of serving children. Congratulations Millie!

An update from Sydney (Conley) Wilson, the 2019 recipient of the Jordan Holly Memorial Scholarship and Jordan's bff: "I am currently teaching first grade at Carl Sandburg Elementary School, where Jordan and I first met and our inseparable bond began. As I wrap up my first-year teaching, I can’t help but reflect on the wonderful people and opportunities that have led me here. Throughout college, Jordan’s memory, and receiving this scholarship in her name, motivated me to honor Jordan’s life by educating and caring for children. Jordan impacted so many people around her. She loved people and was the best friend I could’ve asked for. I’m so grateful that we can remember her by providing opportunities for those seeking a career serving children. Thank you to the Holly’s, the scholarship committee, and all donors for continuing this scholarship in remembrance of my best friend."
