Welcome to the rooted family, Addison Wilson who is apprenticing under Faith Ash. 🩷 ✨

Addison began her apprenticeship with me in October, and I’m so thankful to continue pouring into her growth, skill, and confidence behind the chair. She has such a teachable spirit, a strong work ethic, and a genuine heart exactly what we value here at rooted. You’ll see her helping me throughout appointments, learning hands on, assisting with services, and growing more each day. I can’t wait for you all to watch her journey unfold as she continues apprenticing under me. Big things ahead, Addison we’re so glad you’re here and cant wait to see where this journey takes you. 🩷✂️

As I get ready to head to the WVAFF pageant soon, I wanted to take a moment to talk about something that is especially important as we move into the winter season. Illnesses like colds can affect people living with Crohn’s disease very differently. ❄️

Many individuals with Crohn’s take medications that suppress the immune system to manage inflammation. Because of this, common colds can be more severe, last longer, and sometimes even trigger flare-ups. What may seem minor to some can become a much bigger challenge for others.

This is why people with Crohn’s often have to be extra cautious during cold and flu season. It’s important to be mindful in crowded spaces and prioritize rest because taking steps to protect your health is essential.

Awareness helps create understanding, patience, and support for those navigating life with Crohn’s disease every day. 💜

Here’s a quick graphic I made to break it down 📉

Today, marks the begining of Crohn's and Colitis Awareness Week 2025 💜

Did you know that IBD stands for inflammatory bowel disease? It includes Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and microscopic colitis-three digestive diseases that affect over 10 million people worldwide.

Experts report that more young people, including children, are being diagnosed with IBD every year, and the problem is only getting worse. Currently, access to appropriate treatment is inconsistent, and many patients only see specialists when their symptoms flare up. But relapses are unpredictable, and failing to treat IBD when it’s active can lead to prolonged use of medications, adverse effects, invasive surgery, or even death.

Despite the fact that over 10 million people live with these diseases globally, many are still unaware of what they are or how physically and emotionally devastating they can be. That’s why raising awareness-especially during Crohn's & Colitis Awareness Week is so critical.

Let’s keep this ribbon going for everyone living with IBD and their families. If you feel comfortable, share part of your story in the comment section below 💜

My family and I had the privilege of running the concession stand at the Roane Rotary Bingo at Camp Shepherd in Gandeeville. We had baked goods, hot dogs, and all sorts of tasty treats, and together, we raised over $600 to Addi’s Cause. 🖤

I just want to give a HUGE thank you to the Roane Rotary Club for giving me this opportunity to give back, and to everyone who showed up to support this fundraiser! It was such a heartwarming experience, and I couldn’t have done it without my incredible family by my side.

Shoutout to my sister Aftyn, my mom Amanda, my grandma and grandpa Patti and Dale, my little sister’s best friend Laci, and of course, the star of the show, my little sister Addi. You all made this event what it was, and I’m so grateful for each of you! 🙏

This is just a small step in raising awareness for Crohn’s disease and the need for the medical supplies, but every little bit helps. Thank you to everyone who came out to support us! 💜

Did you know that stress can cause Crohn’s flare-ups?

While stress doesn’t cause Crohn’s disease, it can definitely trigger flare-ups. For those living with Crohn’s, stress can make symptoms worse, adding extra layers of pain and discomfort.

Managing stress is just as important as managing physical health when living with Crohn’s. Whether it’s everyday pressures or the challenges of living with a chronic illness, stress affects us all. But for those with Crohn’s, it can hit the body in a very real, sometimes painful way. That’s why finding ways to cope, whether through relaxation, support systems, or simply taking time for yourself, is key for recovery. 🌿

The battle isn’t just physical but emotional, too.
