Happy Father’s Day to all of the incredible dads in the HBAWV family!

Today, we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures who help build more than just homes—they build strong families, lasting values, and thriving communities.

Whether you’re on the job site, mentoring the next generation, volunteering in your community, or simply being there for your family, your hard work and dedication make a difference every single day.

Did You Know? 🇺🇸
Father’s Day has roots in both Spokane, Washington, where the first nationally recognized celebration was held in 1910, and Fairmont, West Virginia, where a memorial service honoring fathers took place in 1908 following the Monongah Mining Disaster. West Virginia proudly holds an important place in the history of this special day.

From all of us at the Home Builders Association of West Virginia, thank you for everything you do to build stronger homes, stronger families, and a stronger West Virginia.

💙 Happy Father’s Day! ❤️

💙💛 Happy Birthday, West Virginia! 💛💙

Today we celebrate more than the day our state joined the Union—we celebrate the place we proudly call home.

West Virginia isn’t just mountains, rivers, and winding country roads. It’s neighbors who become family, communities that stand together through every challenge, and generations of hardworking people whose strength and determination have shaped this beautiful state.

From the majestic New River Gorge Bridge to the golden dome of our Capitol, from the vibrant blooms of the Rhododendron to the towering Sugar Maple, the song of the Northern Cardinal, and the quiet strength of the Black Bear, every corner of West Virginia tells a story.

On June 20, 1863, our state was born with a spirit rooted in courage, independence, and freedom. More than 160 years later, that spirit is alive in every small town, every family, every veteran, every first responder, every teacher, every miner, every builder, every farmer, every business owner, and every West Virginian who proudly calls this place home.

No matter where life takes us, there will always be something special about hearing the words…

“Take Me Home, Country Roads.”

Here’s to the place we’ll always call Almost Heaven.

Happy 163rd Birthday, West Virginia! 🇺🇸💙💛

We’re proud to join the National Association of Home Builders in advocating for the policies that impact housing, workforce development, and small businesses across our nation.

Housing doesn’t happen by accident—it happens when builders, remodelers, suppliers, associate members, policymakers, and industry leaders come together to discuss real-world challenges and solutions.

That is why leadership conferences and legislative meetings are so important. These conversations help ensure that the voice of the housing industry is heard by those making decisions that affect housing affordability, workforce development, regulations, and the future of home building.

Representatives from the Home Builders Association of West Virginia were in Washington, D.C., meeting with our elected officials and participating in discussions that directly impact our members and the communities we serve throughout West Virginia.

Thank you to NAHB for continuing to lead the charge on behalf of the housing industry and ensuring our collective voice is heard at every level.

🇺🇸 Legislative Conference 2026 – Capitol Hill Day

Today, HBAWV joined housing industry leaders from across the country at NAHB’s Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C., advocating for policies that impact housing affordability, workforce development, regulatory reform, and our industry as a whole.

Our West Virginia delegation met with Congresswoman Carol Miller, Congressman Riley Moore, Senator Shelley Moore Capito, and Senator Jim Justice to ensure the voice of West Virginia’s housing industry was heard on Capitol Hill.

Representing HBAWV were:
• Aaron Dickerson, State Representative
• Kent Pauley, Past HBAWV State President
• Doug Burch, Builder Member, NCWVHBA & NAHB National Delegate
• Terri Boone, NCWVHBA Executive Officer
• Jamie Burch, HBAWV State Executive Officer
• Sylke Knuppel, HBAWV Member-at-Large

Between our Congressional and Senate meetings, we had the opportunity to take a guided tour of the United States Capitol, making for an unforgettable experience while in our nation’s capital.

The day concluded with the NAHB Legislative Reception, where members from across the Federation shared updates from their meetings, discussed housing issues affecting their states, and exchanged ideas on how we can continue strengthening our industry’s voice in Washington.

If you have never attended Legislative Conference, consider making plans to join us in the future. The more members who participate, the stronger our voice becomes on the issues that matter most to our industry. With nearly 500 members statewide, HBAWV has the opportunity to make an even greater impact when our members show up and speak with one voice.

It is always a pleasure to attend these meetings and continue learning more with each opportunity. Every meeting provides valuable takeaways, and if even one idea or initiative is implemented back home, it is a win for our members and our industry.

Tomorrow will be a very busy and productive day as we begin with a morning briefing followed by meetings with Congresswoman Carol Miller, Congressman Riley Moore, Senator Shelley Moore Capito, and Senator Jim Justice. These conversations are critical to ensuring that the voice of West Virginia’s housing industry is heard on Capitol Hill.

We were also honored to receive an invitation for a guided tour of our Nation’s Capital. During a break between our morning and afternoon meetings, Senator Capito’s intern will lead our group through the U.S. Capitol, providing a unique opportunity to experience the history and significance of this remarkable institution.

As I look around this conference, I can’t help but think that with nearly 500 members in our association, we should have even more members participating and making their voices heard during the NAHB Spring Leadership Meeting and Legislative Conference. Advocacy matters. Relationships matter. And our collective voice truly does make a difference.

The National Association of Home Builders continues to ensure that housing issues remain front and center with our elected officials, but grassroots involvement from members is what makes that message powerful. Together, we can help shape policies that impact housing affordability, workforce development, regulatory reform, and the future of our industry.
