CHARD doesn’t whisper—it announces itself.

Deep green leaves, veins like stained glass, roots that trace back to the Mediterranean sun. A vegetable matriarch Elizabeth Schneider describes chard as both humble and luxurious—earthy like spinach, but with a backbone. A green that actually holds its own.

We’d add that it’s similar to beet greens but less earthy tasting; that’s b/c it has oxalic acid but far less than spinach so it doesn’t leave that funky texture in your mouth afterwards. It’s also sturdier than spinach so it cooks down 50% less when sautéed. The stalk is similar to celery and is sure fire the most colorful thing in fridge outside of fruit!

GRx says it’s considered a superfood due to high levels of vitamin A, K, C, magnesium, iron, potassium while low in calories. 😤

Sauté it, braise it, toss it raw if you’re feeling bold—just don’t ignore it. This is a vegetable that asks you to slow down, cook with intention, and taste something real.
