Education West Virginia co-presidents, transition council members and staff have been all across the state for the past week for new teacher orientation and all-county events. Scenes from today include Lewis County’s all staff opening day,

Some losses are just harder. 💔

AFT-WV mourns the loss of our dear friend and union sister Terry Cunningham. A multi-decade activist and former state executive board member from Putnam County, Terry was the epitome of who you want next to you in the trenches…. Smart, fierce, loyal, absolutely hilarious, and possessing a giant heart of gold. We will miss her tremendously but are comforted in the knowledge that she is once again hugging her son Rob, the light of her life. Rest in peace, dear Terry.

Members of AFT-WV attended NEA Representative Assemply in Portland, Oregon over the 4th of July as guests of WVEA. It was an informative and exciting experience!

So appreciative that State Senator Joey Garcia (13th senatorial district- Monongalia and Marion counties) was able to come to AFT Summer School to speak to our attendees about PEIA and other issues important to our members.

We were just notified today by Camp Dawson that they now require a Real ID to enter the base. If you do not have a Real ID, they will accept a valid military ID, passport, or a combination of a certified birth certificate and social security card that match names (bring a marriage license if names do not match). Please bring the appropriate documents if you do not have a Real ID.

Also, please pass the word to anyone else you know is attending since this is such short notice and we fear many folks may not read the email or other notifications.
