Intention is not what matters most.

Impact is.

You can say something or do something and never intend to hurt someone. Yet someone may walk away carrying the weight of that harm. The solution isn’t to argue your intentions. The solution is to listen, acknowledge the impact, and work toward repair.

The same is true in human trafficking services.

The vast majority of professionals I meet genuinely want to help. They entered this work because they care. Their intentions are often rooted in compassion, protection, and service.

But good intentions alone do not guarantee safe services.

Without a deep understanding of human trafficking, trauma, coercion, exploitation, power dynamics, survivor behavior, and the realities of trafficking, organizations can unintentionally create environments that retraumatize survivors. Policies meant to protect can create barriers. Questions meant to help can create shame. Practices meant to support can push survivors away.

And when survivors tell us something is causing harm, the answer cannot be, “But that wasn’t our intention.”

Because the impact is still real.

This is why survivor consultants are essential.

Survivor consultants help bridge the gap between intention and impact. We help organizations identify blind spots, strengthen policies, improve service delivery, and build systems that truly support survivors rather than unintentionally harming them.

The goal is not blame.

The goal is growth.

The goal is creating spaces where survivors are believed, understood, protected, and empowered to heal.

May the truth continue to surface and every single person who traffic’s and commits heinous crimes be held accountable. ✨✨✨
And so it is 🌀💥🔥

🚨JUST IN: Six people arrested in Greenville County, SC, for an alleged decades-old child s*x ring — including three former law enforcement and fire officials.

Victims came forward in January 2026. The alleged crimes span 1998–2003. Deputies executed search warrants on May 19 and made arrests.

The suspects (all friends or acquaintances):

- Matthew Joseph Fay, 48 — former Greenville Fire Department training officer
- Waylon Rogers, 48 — former Greenville PD
- Allen Foltz, 58 — former Mauldin PD
- Paula Foltz, 58
- Edward Storer, 57
- Jeannine Storer, 59

They face multiple counts of criminal s*xual conduct with minors, solicitation, conspiracy, in**st, unlawful conduct toward a child, and more. All have been denied bond.

These were the people in badges and uniforms — trusted to protect children. Decades later, the truth emerges. Prayers for the victims’ healing and full justice.

Beauty From Ashes Healing has some exciting news… 💙

This summer, we will be opening the doors to our new office space and hosting a Grand Opening Open House!

For years, this dream was built from a kitchen table, then a small office, and now—because of the support of our community—we are moving into a beautiful space dedicated to human trafficking victims and survivors.

As a survivor-led nonprofit, every dollar we have worked so hard to secure is intentionally protected for what matters most: helping survivors access safe housing, emergency needs, and critical support when they need it most. When a survivor is ready to leave exploitation, we need to be able to move quickly.

That’s where you come in.

We are asking our community to help us transform this new space into a warm, welcoming, and healing environment for survivors. This office will be used for survivor-led peer support groups, healing sessions, advocacy services, community education, and so much more.

We have created a Dream Space List filled with items that will help us build an environment where survivors can walk through our doors and feel safe, valued, and seen.

There are moments in life that deserve to be paused for.

This is one of them.

Beauty From Ashes Healing was born from our founder’s dining room office.

Not in a corporate building.
Not with a large budget.
Not with endless resources.

Just a survivor, a dream, and an unwavering belief that human trafficking survivors deserved survivor-led services, survivor-led healing, and a place where they could truly belong.

From a dining room office…

To a one-room office space…

And now, for the first time, Beauty From Ashes Healing has signed a lease for a beautiful business office space dedicated to survivor-led healing, peer support, advocacy, education, and the future of services for human trafficking survivors in our community.

To some, it’s an office.

To us, it’s proof.

Proof that healing is possible.

Proof that survivors belong in leadership.

Proof that even the smallest beginnings can grow into something that changes lives.

As we prepare this space, we are being incredibly intentional with every detail. Not just the colors on the walls or the furniture in the rooms, but the energy surrounding every piece of Beauty From Ashes Healing.

We believe healing creates ripples.

When possible, we want to invest in humans who have overcome incredible obstacles, rebuilt their lives, started businesses, created art, and are leaving their mark on the world. We want this space to reflect not only healing for survivors, but healing throughout our community.

Which brings us to our next project…

We are looking for someone to create and install a large window decal featuring the Beauty From Ashes Healing logo and branding on the front windows of our new office space.
