On Monday, we had the pleasure of hearing from Dominique Ranieri, CEO of West Virginia International Yeager Airport. Dominique shared exciting updates about the airport, ongoing improvements, and what’s ahead for air travel and economic growth in our region. It was a great discussion about the important role our airport plays in connecting West Virginia to the world.

One way you can help support the future of the airport is by taking a few minutes to complete their community survey. Your feedback can help shape future services and improvements. Take the survey here: https://vist.ly/53cet

We had the pleasure of hearing from Kate White this Monday, who gave our club an insightful and comprehensive look into the work of Legal Aid of West Virginia.

Kate walked us through how Legal Aid operates, how it is funded, and—most importantly—the critical role it plays in supporting individuals and families across our communities. From ensuring access to justice to providing essential legal services for those who need it most, their impact is both far-reaching and deeply meaningful.

Kate’s journey with Legal Aid began in 2009 through a prestigious Skadden Fellowship, and her leadership has continued to grow ever since—culminating in her appointment as Executive Director in April 2025.

Thank you, Kate, for your dedication to service and for helping us better understand the vital work being done every day across West Virginia.

This past Monday, we proudly recognized Richard Sinclair for an incredible 50 years as a Rotarian. From serving as Club President in '86–'87 to earning multiple Paul Harris Fellow honors, Richard has given generously of both his time and treasure in support of Rotary’s mission.

His impact extends far beyond our Club, including being named a recipient of the YMCA Spirit of the Valley Award in 2013—proof of his deep commitment to the Charleston community.

Milestones like this remind us that Rotary’s impact is built on individuals who show up consistently with integrity, compassion, and purpose. Thank you, Richard, for setting the standard for “Service Above Self.” 👏

We had the pleasure of hearing from our own Rotary member, Alexandra Arwood, this week, and what a timely and thought-provoking presentation it was to a packed house.

Ally led a powerful conversation around AI, the risks and opportunities it presents, and what it truly means to lead in a moment like this. It’s not just about the technology, it’s about how we choose to respond to it.

Thank you, Ally, for challenging us to stay curious, lean into the conversation, and think differently about leadership in a rapidly changing world.

Last week, our community showed the true spirit of Thanksgiving.

Volunteers from across the community, including many of our dedicated Rotary members, came together to prepare and serve hundreds of meals for neighbors in need. It was an incredible example of what happens when compassion and service come together.

To everyone who rolled up their sleeves, donated, cooked, packed, delivered, or simply shared a smile: thank you. Your generosity made sure families across our community felt supported, seen, and cared for this holiday season.

This is what “Service Above Self” looks like — and we’re grateful to be part of such a giving community.
