Boy Scouts and leaders of Troop 2 celebrate 100 years of scouting at Sacred Heart Parish. (Martina Hart photos)

Brief History:

Troop 2 was chartered on October 28, 1919 through Sacred Heart Parish in Charleston.

In the century that followed, 68 boys have earned the rank of Eagle Scout, Scouting’s highest award, and hundreds of boys have
been members of the troop. As one of the oldest troops in Charleston and the oldest troop continuously sponsored by a Catholic
church in the state, we are proud to share this moment with the parishioners of the Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, whose support has been a large part of our success.

We are hopeful to meet any former members of the troop during our activities and would love to hear their remembrances so that we can add those to our troop history. We look forward to future activities in scouting and working with the Basilica on projects.

Catholic Camporee RSVP due today -

All scouts should have a mess kit and water bottle as the troop will no longer provide styrofoam/disposable plates/bowls or individual bottles of water for camping trips.  There are a few plates and cups available for those who may not have a mess kit or water bottle.

An awesome story about an amazing journey across the Western Hemisphere. “Cargo” used to work for Beth back in NC (we only knew him as Holly back then). The last time I saw him was when we were at our friend Lee Tate’s funeral in Alabama about five years ago. I have been following his journey as he posted updates on Facebook over the last year and it really is a great story. Take a few minutes to read the story and there is a link to the Today show video they did when he finished the trail.
