This is a reminder that we will not be doing any outreach events at Brittlebank Park and Mullet Hall for the months of June, July and August. Have a wonderful and safe summer!

The forecast for Wednesday May 27, 2026 is for clouds and possible rain so our Astronomy in the Park outreach event at Brittlebank Park is canceled. This was going to be the last outreach event for spring. We do not hold outreach events in June, July and August because the Sun sets so late, the humidity is high which makes the “seeing” worse and the near-constant sea breezes create cloudy conditions most evenings. We’ll start up our Astronomy in the Park at Brittlebank Park again on September 9 and our Dark Sky Astronomy at Johns Island County Park (Mullet Hall) on September 5, 2026. I hope everyone has an enjoyable and safe summer.

The forecast looks promising for our Astronomy in the Park at Brittlebank Park on Wednesday May 20, 2026 so we are on for our outreach event. There will be a gorgeous 4 day old Moon up and we will be able to take a very close look at some prominent craters and the Rheita Valley. Venus will be shining brightly and we will be able to see Jupiter and its four Galilean moons. There are some beautiful double stars, open star clusters and globular clusters to check out. The Sun sets at 8:15 so we will be setting up around 7:30. Come join us on our next-to-last outreach event at Brittlebank Park until September.
