🐾 K9 Jett Recovering After Being Injured in the Line of Duty 🐾

This morning, K9 Jett was injured while courageously assisting deputies in the apprehension of a suspect involved in a stabbing incident in the Chelyan area.

During the attempted apprehension, K9 Jett was stabbed, suffering a laceration to his head. His handler, Corporal Barbagallo, immediately rushed him from the scene and transported him to a veterinary hospital, where he received emergency medical treatment and stitches.

We are relieved to report that K9 Jett is in stable condition and is expected to recover.

We would like to commend Corporal Barbagallo for his actions in assisting his K9 partner during a time of critical need. He demonstrated courage, composure, and dedication while responding to a challenging situation, exemplifying the highest standards of professionalism and commitment to his partner.

I have been receiving a lot of messages in regards to the injured K9. K9 Jett did get injured today in this incident but has been treated, released, and expected to make full recovery. We appreciate everyone reaching out and checking! Thank you all for your support!

🐾Today we said goodbye to K-9 Brix🐾

Brix faithfully served the citizens of Kanawha County before retiring on September 1, 2023. He was 13 years old at the time of his passing this morning. For years, he worked the road, stood beside his partner, Sgt. Mike Dickerson, on difficult calls, and did his job with unmatched loyalty.

After retirement, he stayed right where he belonged, with Sgt. Dickerson, who now serves as a School Resource Officer for the Kanawha County Sheriff's Offie. Their bond never changed. It never does.

Brix wasn’t just a K-9. He was family.

Rest easy, Brix. We’ll take it from here.
