What: Americans for Safe Access, Veterans Initiative 22, and American Legion Post 426 are hosting an Emergency Town Hall to discuss recent federal activity that jeopardizes patient protections and how to get involved in the movement to fight back

When: June 20th, 2025, 1-2 pm ET

Where: MorganTown Public Library - 373 Spruce St, Morgantown, WV 26505

Who: Everyone who cares about the future of medical cannabis and federal protections for patients

Background: For the last decade, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) have been barred from using federal funds to enforce federal cannabis laws in states with medical cannabis laws through an amendment to their budget (CJS Amendment). For the past few years, this amendment has been part of the original bill text. This amendment is not included in this year's appropriation bill, and advocates will have to fight to ensure these protections are expanded for another year to prolong the "cease-fire" until we secure legislation to create a national medical cannabis program. *****naismedicine

All the seed bearing plants and herbs

A new federally funded study has found that ma*****na is “significantly” associated with reduced opioid cravings for people using them without a prescription, suggesting that expanding access to legal cannabis could provide more people with a safer substitute. Big concern for those in WV also.

The Court ruled, "In short, our history and tradition may support some limits on an intoxicated person’s right to carry a weapon, but it does not justify disarming a sober citizen based exclusively on his past drug usage."
