West Virginia Child Advocacy Network The West Virginia Child Advocacy Network is the statewide leader in the fight against child abuse. We are the voice of local CACs in public policy debates.

The WV Child Advocacy Network (WVCAN) brings together 21 child advocacy centers to ensure that the children of West Virginia have access to high-quality, evidence-based treatment services that put their wellbeing at the heart of abuse investigations. We bring together passionate individuals through 21 child advocacy centers to ensure that the children of West Virginia have access to high-quality,

evidence-based treatment services that put their wellbeing at the heart of abuse investigations. We educate lawmakers, bringing issues of national importance and local impact to their attention. We keep our member Centers informed about new trends and best practices that help minimize trauma for abused children elsewhere, break the cycle of abuse, and hold offenders accountable. The benefits of WVCAN’s work are in the following five areas: community awareness and advocacy, training and technical assistance, evaluation and assessment, funding, and membership.

This month, we’re spotlighting Child Protect CAC/Starting Points FSC. 🌟 Child Protect provides children with a safe, supportive place to be heard and begin healing after abuse. Through forensic interviews, advocacy, prevention, and more, Child Protect is restoring hope— one child, one family, and one community at a time. 👏

✨ Fun fact: Child Protect is celebrating their 25th year providing service to Mercer County and fighting child abuse. The CAC is one line of support for children, maintaining a team of trusted adults who listen and help.
