Kanawha Valley Sustainability Fair The 2011 Sustainability Fair took place September 24 at Columbia Gas Transmission Building, 1700 MacCorkle Ave SE, Charleston, WV

The fair will introduced participants to and educated them about economic, environmental and social sustainability. Participants experienced sustainability through a variety of themes, including locally grown food, conservation, renewable energy, green building, green jobs, government and community resources, recycling, health and wellness, economic development, culture and history. The event fe

atured food, interactive and hands-on exhibits, activities for children, performances and practical ideas for residents and businesses. Over 1,000 participants attended this year’s Fair and associated events, taking advantage of activities, products and services offered by more than 90 exhibitors and off-site sponsors.

HUSH, an organic health-food store, is now open in the 1500 block of Washington Street East. Next door, in the space where the Book Exchange used to be, Magic Makers Costumes plans to open soon.
