What are some of the things in everyday life that you are afraid of? Disappointing people? Being different and not being liked or accepted by others? Losing your primary source of income? Getting a debilitating disease? Do you fear other people that are different from you? Do you fear trying something new and failing or just failure in general? Do you fear making a change? Does it immobilize you? Does it keep you from loving others? Does it make you apathetic? Does it limit you from fully embracing this life?

Courage is a powerful force. It drives you to do something even though it terrifies you. It convicts you to make a choice to do something because it is the right thing to do even when it means you could lose everything. Courage is contagious. It inspires everyone in it's reach. Courage gives us eyes to see the beauty in the broken.

When everything breaks down or burns to ashes ... rise out of the dust.

Have you ever been addicted to something? I have. Many years ago I saw this image in a dream and woke up around 3am and sketched it out. It was so vivid I knew I had to paint it. The symbols in the dream were crystal clear and told the story of the things I was struggling with. The jack in the box had a screen on the front with clouds and a question mark. The thing about addiction is that it always looks alluring. When you crank open the box, after some time, it ends up being much different than what you expected it to be. At the core of who we are as human beings we have a desire for friendship, to be loved, to be a part of community. You may think you have your addiction under control but real addiction leads to isolation where you end up being a puppet controlled by the thing you crave. What are you addicted to?
