The dog days of summer are officially here, but that’s not stopping us! The Kanawha Valley Trail Alliance is ready to get back out on the dirt for our regularly scheduled First Saturday trail work.

We are keeping the pressure on the Log Town Trail re-route project. Thanks to our awesome volunteers, we’ve made incredible progress so far—but we still have plenty of work to do to get it across the finish line!

Here are the details:

When: This Saturday, August 1, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Where: Kanawha State Forest. We will be meeting at the parking lot near Shelter 8. (This is on the left side of the road just past the entrance to the campground).

Bonus: Come a little early to grab some coffee and donuts before we head out to dig!

Please bring plenty of water, sturdy shoes, and work gloves. We’ll supply the tools and the morning treats.

See you on the trails!

Our Rock Armoring Workshop in partnership with the Brad and Alys Smith Outdoor Economic Development Collaborative was a success! A group of folks gathered at Kanawha State Forest on Saturday to learn some advanced techniques using the placement of large rocks to help create trail structure.

Huge shout out to Rich and Logan from WVU OEDC for leading another amazing workshop, and Jody and Clark from KSF for hosting - and joining in the work!
