EIU Respect for Youth, umadd

EIU Respect for Youth, umadd Meetings every Monday night at 7pm in the Greenup Room, 3rd floor of MLK Jr Student Union It was started in 2007 by former EIU football player, Micah Rucker.

Respect for Youth is the Eastern Illinois University campus chapter of UMADD (Mother's Against Drunk Driving). After choosing not to consume alcohol at a party, Rucker's girlfriend of two years, Rebecca Fissehatsion Yacob, was killed by a drunk driver on Jan. 28, 2007. After this tragedy, Rucker decided to bring something positive out of what happened in hopes of saving other people's lives, thus Respect for Youth was born.

With lack of adequate public transportation in many cities, it is sometimes difficult to get home late at night. Here are some suggestions:
-Get a designated driver
-Drink at locations within walking distance of your home
-Call a cab
-Search for services that will take both you and your car home if you are drunk
-Offer to pay for a cab or drive friends home if they are drunk
