After photos from Redhead!! This summer our volunteers completed extensive repairs and renovations to improve the safety, accessibility, and overall condition of the house. In the two back bedrooms, the team patched and repaired the subfloor, repaired damaged drywall, and mudded and taped the wall patches. After preparing the walls, they painted both bedrooms, installed new flooring, and finished the spaces with new trim. In the primary bathroom, the crew removed the old shower and completed significant structural repairs, including repairing the band joist, replacing and repairing floor joists, replacing the bottom wall plate, and sistering damaged wall studs. After Photos from Chocolate Boo Book!! This summer volunteers excavated post holes and constructed a 13-foot accessibility ramp extending from the existing concrete porch to the sidewalk, providing an ADA-accessible entrance to the home. A concrete landing was poured to create a smooth, safe transition between the ramp and the sidewalk. Inside the home, the existing toilet was replaced with a 19-inch comfort-height toilet to improve accessibility. The bathtub was removed and replaced with a walk-in accessible shower. Existing tile surrounding the tub was removed, and the exposed wall was repaired with new drywall, which was taped, mudded, sanded, primed, and painted to create a finished surface. New water supply lines and a shower control valve were also installed to accommodate the updated shower configuration. Volunteers also cleaned and repainted to porch that leads to the new ramp.

As the summer comes to an end, all of us in Kanawha County must prepare to part ways. Here is what we’ll be up to after we leave Kanawha:

- Sarah will be heading back to Virgina Tech where she will start her 5th year studying Architecture.
- Simon is heading back to Stevens Institute of Technology where he will start his sophomore year studying Naval Engineering.
- Claire will going back up to Penn state to start her sophomore year where she is studying Chemical Engineering.
-Casey will be headed back out west to the University of Oklahoma where she is entering her junior studying Health and Exercise Science on the pre-OT track.
-Ian is heading back north to Ithaca where he will enter his junior where he is studying film.

We are all so grateful to have spent the summer in Kanawha County and will miss this place and these people a lot. Thank you to ASP for bringing us together in Kanawha County. Until next time!
