Critic Julien Héraud describes Sam Sfirri and the NMC Chamber Ensemble in his review of the 6 CD Wandelweiser und so weiter box set, featuring contributions by Sfirri and NMC friends Jason Brogan, Jürg Frey, Michael Pisaro, and Manfred Werder:

"Sam Sfirri leads the way with a short five-minute piece performed by the NMC Chamber Ensemble entitled 'the undulating land.' A piece for electric and acoustic guitars, flute, clarinet, percussion, and melodica (Jason Brogan, Bill Carson, Jared Sinclair, Kim Larson, Ron Wiltrout and Sam Sfirri himself). [...] Infinity opens up starting from a note, the possibilities seeming breathtakingly high and the piece seems to be in constant movement despite the unchanging repetition (of note, but also attack, duration, and intensity)." (trans. Brogan) http://bit.ly/TDkWgx

The box set is published in a limited edition, and only a few copies remain; they are available to purchase at the link below.

Squidco sells CDs, DVDs, Vinyl LPs and magazines of unusual music in the fields of improvisation, compositional music, experimental, chamber rock, and Rock In Opposition

fields have ears (7) was written for the New Music Collective and premiered in Charleston on September 19, 2010!

When I first heard this cryptic sentence (a “Sprichwort” in German) from poet Oswald Egger, I understood that it had to do with the fundamental difference between sight and sound. But I thought: fields must (also) have ears. (And: whose?)
