SAVE THE DATE: We’re hosting an ice cream social fundraiser at Jeni’s Ice Creams at Mount Pleasant Towne Center on Thursday, August 27th from 12pm to 3pm. 25% of all sales during the event will be donated to Friends of Charleston National Parks.

We’re looking for passionate volunteer leaders to join our team!

FCNP is in a moment of major growth and we’re looking to connect with future potential board leaders who care about Charleston, public history, preservation, education, access to green space and nature, and the overall future of these remarkable places.

We are the only National Parks affiliate serving the Lowcountry region — and it’s an exciting time to get involved. If you are interested in learning more about joining our board of directors, access the board interest form here:

Huzzah to Carolina Day 250! 🇺🇸

Thousands braved the heat and came together at Fort Moultrie to commemorate the momentous anniversary of the Battle of Sullivan’s Island. On June 28, 1776, a fort made of palmetto logs and sand stood undefeated against British forces, proving to be one of the greatest patriot victories in history.

250 years later, we joined one another for a weekend of fun, freedom, and reflection, revealing that the revolutionary spirit of 1776 is still alive and well in the Lowcountry.

1,000 flags—one community ♥️🤍💙 Thank you to the volunteers of all ages who came together to place 500 American and 500 British flags at Fort Moultrie. This Flag Garden installation in commemoration of the Battle of Sullivan’s Island lies on top of the very ground where history happened. 250 years later, we honor the people who fought and died on June 28, 1776 and recognize the courage, resilience, and determination of those in pursuit of American independence.

We invite you to become part of history by joining us on Wednesday, June 24th at Fort Moultrie to create the Carolina Day 250 Commemorative Flag Garden!

We are seeking volunteers from across our community to install 1,000 American and British flags in a visual tribute commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Sullivan’s Island. All ages are welcome 🇺🇸

The Flag Garden will stand as a powerful reminder that history is not only something we learn about, but also something we preserve and commemorate together. Registration is recommended but not required at www.friendscnp.org.
