Last week, we had the opportunity to attend the 51st Annual National Rural Social Work Caucus Conference in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. It was a great opportunity to connect with colleagues and friends, and our staff member Halle presented with Dr. Lenola Wyatt on reminiscence therapy and its benefits for older adults in rural communities.

Thank you to Murray State University for hosting and all of our colleagues from West Virginia who attended and presented at the conference!

Victory for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)!
NASW applauds a federal court decision protecting Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) for social workers and other public service professionals.
On June 30, 2026, a federal judge ruled in favor of the plaintiffs in National Council of Nonprofits et al. v. Linda McMahon, blocking an effort to restrict eligibility for the PSLF program. The decision helps preserve student loan forgiveness for eligible social workers employed by qualifying nonprofit and public sector organizations.
This outcome reflects the power of advocacy and partnership. We are grateful to the NASW Chapters and members who shared their experiences, helping demonstrate the real-world impact these proposed changes could have had on social workers and the communities they serve. And remember: Your Voice ALWAYS matters! Thank you!
