Batik begins with an inspired idea. The process takes hours, sometimes days from creation to completion💫. The fabric is entirely handcrafted and completely beautiful.

Jelinda is one of our lead designers, who used to be a vocational student at Artisan many years ago. She has such a great eye for creative design and fashion.

From turquoise to green and every color in between, Jelinda’s artwork is fully displayed on these fabrics. All fabrics are available to buy at Artisan’s BATIQ shop in Gulu.

Our hearts are heavy this week.
One of our beloved artisans, Lucy, part of our artisan family since 2015 was shot this week in the stomach during a robbery in Uganda. She has received a successful emergency surgery this week, ❤️ and we are now raising funds urgently ❤️ to cover the cost of her care and ongoing recovery.

She is a deeply loved & her presence has shaped our community and partners for years. Now, we’re showing up for her. If you’re able to give or share, it would mean so much.

Happy Birthday to Ouma Stephen!!! Artisan’s Media Director began his journey at Artisan learning photography at a media workshop hosted by our team in 2021. He has dedicated his creativity to learning media and has like a flash of lightening ⚡️, created a career as a compassionate storyteller. 📸

Stephen is ALL Heart. He brings beauty and his stories to the surface and reminds people to see with a wider creative lens. Whether telling refugee stories in the field, filming commercial projects or taking glam focused portraits - he captures authentic stories with a spirit only he can bring to the forefront!
