Our hearts are heavy this week.
One of our beloved artisans, Lucy, part of our artisan family since 2015 was shot this week in the stomach during a robbery in Uganda. She has received a successful emergency surgery this week, ❤️ and we are now raising funds urgently ❤️ to cover the cost of her care and ongoing recovery.

She is a deeply loved & her presence has shaped our community and partners for years. Now, we’re showing up for her. If you’re able to give or share, it would mean so much.

Happy Birthday to Ouma Stephen!!! Artisan’s Media Director began his journey at Artisan learning photography at a media workshop hosted by our team in 2021. He has dedicated his creativity to learning media and has like a flash of lightening ⚡️, created a career as a compassionate storyteller. 📸

Stephen is ALL Heart. He brings beauty and his stories to the surface and reminds people to see with a wider creative lens. Whether telling refugee stories in the field, filming commercial projects or taking glam focused portraits - he captures authentic stories with a spirit only he can bring to the forefront!

KidCanvas 2026 by Children’s Arts Initiative marks the start of a new creative wave 🎨, inspiring children to paint, dream, and lead change in their communities through art in Gulu.

Artisan Family, one of the artisans who has been a part of our team since 2017, is in critical condition and is hospitalized due to a severe infection and we are in urgent need of funding to help cover her care.

All donations will continue to support her urgent hospital bills, medicine and ongoing recovery.

In Uganda’s under-resourced communities, limited medical access continues to affect the health and wellbeing of artisans and their families. This condition has now personally impacted our artisan team - a woman, a mother, our friend, who is fighting for her health.
