I've met and supported lots of business owners in the past few months, some who are very popular and successful, but unfortunately lack integrity. Someone pulled my coat tail and told me the truth in love during the early years of my business. I had a client pay me in full and in advance for a design and print job. Overwhelmed with no sales process and insufficient fulfillment systems, I got further and further behind on fulfilling orders and taking on new clients. He fell through the cracks and I failed to complete his order. One day I ran into him and all of the weeks and months I failed to serve him flooded back to my memory. Embarrassed, I greeting him with a smile and open arms as did he. I made small talk and really didn't know what to say. I asked, "How's the family? Everything good?" He finally took a step back with a confused look on his face and said, "Sister? Where are my business cards?" I apologized and tried to make amends. He let me know my behavior and treatment of him was NOT acceptable and that if I wanted to continue in business that I needed to clean it up. It was raw and unfiltered truth. And although I felt like crawling up under a rock somewhere, I also felt grateful. My brother took the time to tell me about myself in love. It changed my life in business forever and for the better. I never forgot that moment and immediately put in processes to make sure it NEVER happened again. Because I was made accountable. You can't throw the baby out with the bath water. I'm reaching back and sharing truth with people I know are winners but just need to be taught better. Thank you Shawn Adams for caring enough to tell me the truth. Your thoughts?
