Appalachia has the natural gas. America needs the energy. It’s time to build the infrastructure that connects the two.

GO-WV has joined the Marcellus Shale Coalition and Ohio Oil & Gas Association in urging Congress to advance bipartisan permitting reform through the American Affordability and Jobs Act.

A timely, predictable permitting process will help West Virginia deliver reliable, affordable energy, attract manufacturing investment, support jobs, and strengthen America’s energy security while maintaining environmental protections.

Congress has an opportunity to move this forward. We urge lawmakers to act with urgency.

On Thursday, GO-WV had the opportunity to participate in Buckhannon-Upshur High School’s Career Day, connecting with hundreds of students and sharing the importance of West Virginia’s oil and natural gas industry and the career opportunities it provides right here at home.

Our youth represents the future of West Virginia’s workforce. From well tenders, engineers and operators to countless other skilled positions, our industry offers rewarding, good-paying careers that provide opportunities for individuals and families to build a strong future.

We sincerely thank Buckhannon-Upshur High School for inviting GO-WV to be part of this important event and for helping students learn more about the many career paths available in West Virginia.

On Monday, GO-WV made the natural gas presence known at the PSC hearing on governing electric generating capacity.

West Virginia has the resources to power its future and natural gas can play an important role. As the PSC considers power generation rules, reliability, affordability and consumer choice should remain at the center, while keeping the door open for new energy investment.
