**Update: Wow, Riverland Terrace! In just a few hours, neighbors donated $1,865 and well surpassed our goal. We are blown away by the generosity of this community, and your support will make a real difference in the park experience we are so close to enjoying. Thank you all, and stay tuned for the official opening date!
Help Us Finish Fort Pemberton! 🌳
Many of you are already aware that the new restroom facility at Fort Pemberton was vandalized this week (swipe to see>>). The damage requires replacement, and the funds that had been set aside for two 14-foot picnic tables now must be used for repairs.
Fort Pemberton is just weeks from opening. This new waterfront park was funded through a federal grant and led by the City of Charleston’s Parks Department, and it represents a major investment in Riverland Terrace. Many neighbors have graciously already asked how they can help so this is the opportunity.
The total cost of the tables is $1,407. RTNA will match up to $700 of what is raised to help ensure the tables can still be installed as planned. If the tables are fully funded, any additional funds will go toward park signage that shares the history and significance of Fort Pemberton, something that was not originally included in the project budget. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-us-finish-fort-pemberton/cl/s?attribution_id=sl:ce516fc3-cc38-4fee-8ae0-9c13d76071fe&lang=en_US&ts=1772585188&utm_campaign=fp_below_fold&utm_content=amp17_tc-amp20_t1&utm_medium=customer&utm_source=copy_link
If you’re able to contribute, thank you. If not, please help spread the word and remind neighbors and their kids that the park is an active construction site and trespassing is prohibited. And if you see something concerning, please call the Charleston Police Department and report it as soon as possible.
Let’s open Fort Pemberton the way it was meant to be, fully equipped, welcoming and ready for memory-making. Opening date coming so, so soon!
