The face of love and strength! Our sweet Daisy alum, Lady Grey (formerly Precious) is still going strong after being diagnosed with an inoperable tumor and a heart murmur. She loves her forever daddy, Christopher, and is determined to stay with him as long as she can! Please send pawsitive vibes, prayers and love to Lady Grey and her daddy

Dear Daisy Family, I’m writing you this note from the rainbow bridge. Please don’t be sad for me, I lived the most wonderful life with my forever family – and they were there with me, giving me so much love (and my favorite cookies) as I prepared to cross over the bridge. After 12 years, my first family took me to the vet because they thought I was old and they no longer wanted me. Thankfully, the nice people at the vet’s office knew that I still had so much life left to live and love to give, instead of putting me to sleep they called Auntie M at Daisy’s Place and I became a Daisy Dog! For the first time in my life I knew what it was like to be loved and cherished! I was blessed to have two awesome foster families who took me into their hearts and homes. I had so much fun with them and I was so happy to be an inside dog – all safe and snuggly with my people instead of being left outside all alone like I was at my previous home. And then the day came that I met my FOREVER family – I was so excited!! I knew the minute I met them that I was really and truly HOME. My forever mom and dad, Ann and Jon, were so happy to meet me – they didn’t care that I was no longer a young pup or that I could stand to shed a pound or two – they saw the real me and it was love at first sight for us all! From that moment on, I knew that no matter what happened, I would always have a family who loved me. I had almost three amazing years with my forever family – I know that for them it wasn’t enough time, but for me it was a lifetime filled with so much joy! My family is very sad that I had to cross over the bridge – but I stayed with them as long as I could, holding onto each precious day with them. And I hope they know that I’ll always be with them, I’ll live on in their hearts and memories. I’ll be watching over them, wagging my big ole Labby tail with a smile in my heart because I was so very blessed to have found them. Please say a prayer for my family as they grieve my passing – and hug your pups, especially your grey muzzles! We love you more than you could ever know! COURTESY LISTING FOR OUR FRIENDS AT SOS LAB RESCUE - let's help these precious girls find their forever home! Meet Emma and Sarah. These lovely girls are in need of a new home. Both are 8 years old and very healthy. They are current on their vaccinations and Heartworm negative. Emma is a little quiet and reserved, but she loves to snuggle on the sofa and sleep in bed with you. Sarah is a typical lab. Ready to play with anyone who is willing. Both dogs are great with other dogs and cats. While we would love for them to be adopted together, we do feel that given the right environment they would adjust well if they were to be separated. Unless you are willing put in an application to adopt them together- DO NOT COMMENT about them being adopted separately. Thank you.

It’s with deep sorrow that I have to share the news that another beautiful soul has earned her angel wings. Sweet Molly came to us from a high kill shelter in Charlotte where she was dumped as her eyesight was declining. Molly immediately stole the hearts of her foster moms, Nancy and Sally, and everyone in her Daisy family – she stayed with Nancy in Charlotte after first coming into rescue and then came to Charleston and her foster mom, Sally, so we could take her to our ophthalmologist, Doc Anne Cook. Unfortunately there was nothing that could be done to save Molly’s eyesight and we learned that she would eventually become completely blind. A little thing like losing her eyesight didn’t slow Molly down one bit, she was a happy, outgoing Labby girl who loved life and everyone she met. When Molly’s forever parents met her, it was an instant love connection. Molly still had partial sight and Teresa and John immediately consulted with a trainer to help their girl adjust to their home and her declining sight. Their chocolate Lab, Moose, fell in love with Molly as well and the two became fast friends. Molly eventually lost her eyesight, but her spirit never wavered, she continued to thrive and spread joy wherever she went. She adored Moose and when Teresa and John came home one day and nobody greeted them at the door, they discovered Moose couldn’t stand up by himself and Molly was sitting behind him so as not to accidentally step on him. After Moose crossed over the rainbow bridge, Molly started going to work with her mom, Teresa, and became a welcome member of the team. She loved going out to restaurants, to the beach and everywhere she could with her mom and dad. Molly was such a happy girl and you’d never know she couldn’t see, her tail always twirling circles, Teresa and John called her their whirli-gig. A friend told Molly’s mom, "It's true how uniquely wonderful Molly was. She had a special gift and I'm so glad she was able to touch so many people. What a great legacy she is leaving behind!" Molly left behind a beautiful legacy – her strong spirit and joyful attitude remind us that life is a gift to be cherished and love can conquer all. From the moment Molly came into rescue, her life began again and she made the most of every day. Molly was loved and cherished by her mom and dad, she was their sunshine and they were her whole world. In honor of Molly, take a moment today to count your blessings and tell your loved ones – both 2 legged and 4 pawed - how much they mean to you. Please keep Teresa and John in your hearts and in your prayers as they grieve the loss of their beloved girl. And please say a prayer for Molly’s foster moms, Sally and Nancy – without these amazing women we couldn’t continue saving our precious Daisy Dogs. Many blessings, Auntie M

This has been a difficult year and we’ve lost too many precious Daisy Dogs already. Earlier this week our precious Amos crossed over the rainbow bridge. This is one of the hardest tributes for me to write for many reasons. Amos was such a beautiful soul and he was with us for such a short time. Our hearts are breaking for his forever mom, Rose, who loved Amos with all her heart. Amos came to Daisy’s Place from a kill shelter in Mississippi. We don’t normally take dogs from so far away, but there was something very special about Amos. Within a day of committing to take him, everything was in place – he was out of the shelter thanks to Heidi, a volunteer who picked him up from the shelter and got him to the vet, AND she had lined up a very generous pilot with Pilots N Paws to fly Amos all the way to Charleston. We knew then that Amos was meant to be a Daisy Dog. Unfortunately Amos, like so many dogs on death row, was heartworm positive. We made plans for him to start heartworm treatment and he was on the pre-treatment meds when Rose inquired about adopting Amos. For Rose and Amos it was love at first sight. Rose had lost her husband the week before meeting Amos and as she explained to me, she needed him as much as he needed her. Amos helped Rose keep going when she wanted to give up – every morning he insisted that she get up and feed him when she just wanted to stay in bed and pull the covers over her head. When Amos found Rose crying in the closet, he’d bark at her to come out and sit on the sofa with him, his head was always in her lap as they watched TV together. When Rose cried, Amos slept right next to her, giving her comfort and making her feel secure. Amos gave Rose a purpose to her life again and she in turn, gave Amos a new life filled with love. Amos began heartworm treatment and was doing well. Both he and Rose grew stronger together … until last weekend when Amos took a turn for the worse. He started having difficulty breathing and Rose rushed him to the vet and because it was a Friday afternoon, they referred her to the ER clinic where he spent the next several days. His condition improved and on Sunday afternoon Amos returned home to his beloved mom. Unfortunately, Amos’ body just couldn’t overcome the stress of the heartworm treatment. On Tuesday night, he ‘told’ Rose that he needed a snack, guiding her to the fridge with a strong bark … Amos crossed over the bridge on Wednesday morning. Amos will live on in the hearts and memories of all those who knew and loved him – most especially his forever mom, Rose. Although his time with her was much too short, Amos left this earth knowing that he’s a loved and cherished family member and will never be forgotten. Please keep Rose in your heart and in your prayers as she grieves the loss of her precious boy. And in Amos’ honor, please make sure your dogs stay on heartworm prevention all year long. Ha ha ha! I've got everyone fooled into thinking I'm a frail old lady in hospice care, but today I saw a lizard and *jumped* over Muriel and attacked it like a cheetah on the Savannah! Don't count me out yet! With love and laughter, Stilts (Dahlia) - Daisy Alum
