MAY CLAIMS ASSOCIATION QUARTERLY MEETING

As we prepare for our May 15, 2025 meeting, in accordance with our bylaws, a copy of the Amendment which was discussed in our last meeting is being sent to ALL REGULAR MEMBERS TO review before voting on this amendment on May 15, 2025. The purpose of this amendment is to change the bylaws to allow for the board to incrementally increase the membership dues by no more than $5/year. Previously, any changes to dues had to be voted on and approved by a majority of Regular Members. Please take a moment to review the attached.

We will have our May 15, 2025 meeting at the Hyatt House in Downtown Charleston with Happy Hour direct preceding the meeting. More details will follow soon!

We’ll be announcing the scholarship recipient at our meeting on May 15, 2025—we hope you’ll join us as we celebrate this deserving student!

Reminder for Regular C**A Members – 2025 Scholarship Deadline is Friday, May 2, 2025

Regular C**A Regular Members:

If your son/daughter is applying for the 2025 C**A Scholarship, please note that the deadline to have all materials must be received by the end of the day on Friday, May 2, 2025. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

About the C**A Scholarship
The mission of the C**A Scholarship is to support the higher education goals of students who are children of Regular C**A Members (adjusters, appraisers, or risk managers).

Scholarships are awarded based on a review by the Scholarship Committee. To be eligible:
• The Regular Member must have been a member prior to 2025 and have a current paid membership for 2025.
• The application must be complete and submitted by Friday, May 2, 2025.
The committee evaluates the full application—not just test scores or GPA.

What Should Be Included in the Application Packet?
1. Transcript
- High school seniors: Submit a transcript that includes 12th-grade subjects.
- College students: Submit a current transcript including all completed courses, GPA, and courses in progress.
2. SAT/ACT Scores
- If not included in your transcript, please provide an official score report.
- If you are attending a test-optional college and did not take either test, include documentation from the school confirming that testing was waived.
3. Two Letters of Recommendation
- One from a teacher or faculty member.
- One from an employer, coach, religious leader, or someone who knows you well outside of school.
- Letters may be sealed and submitted with your packet, or sent directly to the committee (see address on application form).
4. Essay
- Provide a thoughtful, original essay that demonstrates your writing ability and helps the committee get to know you beyond your academic record.
- Share your unique qualities, goals, and why you believe you should be awarded the scholarship.
