Founded June 13, 1888, the College of Charleston Alumni Association is an independent nonprofit association representing a global network of nearly 100,000 former students of the College. Its mission is to serve the College and it does so through exciting events, a growing scholarship endowment, and programs and services to engage alumni and students. Annual dues were eliminated in 2007 and all fo

rmer students who earned credit toward a degree at the College are considered members in good standing of the Alumni Association. The Alumni Association is committed to fostering a strong, welcoming, and inclusive alumni community. With more than 40 CofC Clubs and Alumni Affinity Groups dedicated to connecting alumni who share interests, experiences, and pride in the College, there is a home for every College of Charleston Cougar, no matter where we may roam. Sophia Mucci ’26 recently moved to New York City to begin her career as a GIS Associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers. While at the College, she earned both a BA in French and francophone studies and a BS in environmental geosciences, while gaining valuable hands-on experience through work with government organizations and internships with the National Geographic Society and the Naval Information Warfare Center. Beyond the classroom, she studied abroad, visited 10 countries, strengthened her French language skills, and participated in a month-long geology field study that included camping in the Rocky Mountains and the Grand Canyon. She credits the College with providing transformative experiences that shaped her professional growth and broadened her perspective as a global citizen.

Kaitlin Ashby ’25 was recently named one of Charleston County School District’s 2026 Rookie Teachers of the Year, an honor recognizing outstanding first-year educators across early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school levels. Nominated by her principal, Ms. Ashby was selected for her dedication to meeting the needs of her students and their families and for exemplifying the values of her school community. While at the College, she earned her BA in Special Education and Teaching.

Step inside history at the College of Charleston June 12-14 as a full-scale replica of General George Washington’s Revolutionary War tent, widely considered the nation’s first Oval Office, comes to Rivers Green. Part of the First Oval Office Project, this immersive experience includes free public tours, interactive programming, and a special exhibit of Revolutionary-era artifacts in Addlestone Library. A ticketed preview reception will be held on June 12.

Daniel Dickerson '99 and Marie Allain Dickerson '99 are making a lasting impact on graduate education through the Chick-fil-A Graduate Leadership Scholarship, established in 2020 to support master's degree candidates at the College. This year's recipients, Carmen "Kit" Lowery '26 (MPA) and Shelby Allen '25 (MBA '26), have used the scholarship to pursue leadership opportunities, internships, and real-world experiences shaping their careers in public service and marketing. The Dickersons' ongoing generosity is helping students overcome financial barriers and turn their academic and professional goals into reality.
