đ Weâre Still Fighting to Get Back on Our Feet â Please Help Us Keep Our Home â¤ď¸
I honestly never imagined we would still be struggling this much, but here we are, trying our hardest to keep our heads above water. It feels like our bills come in faster than we can pay them, and just when we think weâre finally getting ahead, something else comes up and knocks us right back down.
If our utility bills werenât so unbelievably high here in West Virginia, we would have a much easier time getting back on our feet. Our electric bill averages around $450 a month, and unfortunately, thatâs become the reality for so many families here. We leave our lights off unless we absolutely need them and do everything we can to conserve electricity and water, but with these utility rates, it feels like no matter how careful we are, we just canât get ahead.
With all the rain weâve had lately, my husbandâs hours at work havenât been great. Heâs still expecting a promotion any day now that would mean a $4-an-hour raise, and we are praying it comes through soon because it would make such a difference for our family. We are so ready for the day when one unexpected expense doesnât send us into a panic and we can finally breathe again.
Right now, though, we are desperately trying to pay our rent for this month and keep our home. We worked so hard to get caught up on the rent we had fallen behind on, and we were so relieved to finally get that burden off our shoulders. But now this monthâs rent is due, and my landlord has threatened eviction if I donât make a payment this week.
This weekâs entire paycheck went toward our electric bill and van insurance, leaving us with just $50 for gas to get through the week. And with gas prices being what they are, even that doesnât go very far. Itâs heartbreaking to work so hard, put every penny toward necessities, and still be left worrying about whether weâll have a roof over our heads.
We are terrified of losing our home. We truly love our house. Itâs perfect for our family, our rent is relatively affordable, and our children have finally settled in and made friends here. They are happy, and the thought of losing the stability theyâve found breaks my heart. We donât want to lose the home weâve worked so hard to keep.
When weâre finally financially stable again, we may have to consider moving out of West Virginia in the next few years because of the ever-rising utility costs. But right now, our only goal is to get through this difficult period, keep our home, and reach a point where we can support our family without constantly worrying about what bill we wonât be able to pay next.
Iâm also still waiting for answers regarding Masonâs SSI payments, which have yet to resume, and the state program that would pay me to care for him. Mason requires me to be with him full-time because of his daily challenges, so if I were able to work outside the home, I absolutely would. Unfortunately, these programs take so long, and we are still waiting for the help that would finally give our family some breathing room. When those things come through, they will be an absolute godsend.
Despite everything, there is so much good happening in our lives, and I try to hold on to that. Mason is doing AMAZING in school and is so excited to graduate this year! He hasnât decided exactly what career path he wants to pursue yet, but heâs looking forward to his future and taking the next steps in his life. Seeing him work toward his goals makes me so proud. All of our children deserve the chance to feel secure, enjoy being kids, and look forward to their futures without the uncertainty weâve been living with.
I know Iâve said before that we only needed a little more help, and I feel awful having to come back and ask again. I am so, so tired of having to turn to others for help. Itâs humiliating, emotionally exhausting, and honestly heartbreaking to feel like youâre doing everything you possibly can and still canât quite make it over the finish line. I never wanted to be in this position, and asking for help does not come easily to me.
Weâve reached out to every church and social service we can find, explored every avenue available to us, and done everything in our power to improve our situation. Unfortunately, the assistance just isnât available right now. We are working hard, making sacrifices, and putting every dollar we can toward our responsibilities. We arenât giving up. Weâre just trying to get through this last stretch without losing everything weâve worked so hard for.
If you would feel more comfortable helping directly with our rent, my landlord accepts payments through Cash App, and Iâm happy to provide his information.
âď¸If you want his information, please email me at [email protected] or text me at (304) 207-4121. âď¸
Iâm also confident he would be willing to accept other payment methods, such as a check or bank transfer. Every little bit would help us get a payment made this week and hopefully prevent things from going any further.
Please, if you are able to help us just a little while longer, we would be more grateful than words could ever express. Even a small donation, a share, or a prayer means so much to our family. We are so close to getting back to a place of stability, and we are working as hard as we possibly can to get there.
We donât expect anyone to fix everything for us. We just need a little help getting through this difficult stretch so we can keep our home, continue paying down our bills, and finally have a chance to stand on our own two feet again.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has donated, shared our story, prayed for us, or simply taken the time to care. You have helped carry our family through some incredibly difficult times, and we will never forget that kindness. â¤ď¸
Please help us keep our home and give our children the stability they deserve. We are praying this is the last time we have to ask for help, and that brighter days are finally just around the corner. đâ¤ď¸
