Our program has served the community by providing housing funding, education, and financial counseling for over t

hirty years. The mission of CommunityWorks in West Virginia is to create housing and community development solutions for West Virginians through a network of member organizations. Feliz While a minor holiday in Mexico, Cinco de Mayo is widely celebrated in the U.S. to honor Mexican-American culture, heritage, and resilience, often featuring parades, mariachi, and traditional food like tacos.
Originally popular in California during the 1860s, Cinco de Mayo grew into a celebration of Mexican-American heritage and empowerment, notably within the Chicano movement.
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely 1862 victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla. Puebla is the center of the festivities in Mexico, featuring a large military parade, an elaborate battle reenactment, festivals, and concerts that commemorate the 1862 victory over French forces. It is a significant public holiday in Puebla.
Cinco de Mayo is frequently confused with Mexican Independence Day, which is actually on September 16th.

We are finally here! After shipping delays and finalizing installation, Religious Coalition for Community Renewal in cooperation with WESTSIDE Together HORT will be installing solar streetlights and string lights at eligible homes in City of Charleston, WV
