WVU Believe Them would like to acknowledge our anger and concern with the West Virginia House Bill 302 that was signed into law. This bill being signed into law greatly affects those of the state of West Virginia and those on our very campus from having legal abortions.
WVU Believe Them voices our support to those currently experiencing the vast emotions that come with being stripped of our reproductive rights. We want to reiterate that WVU Believe Them is a safe space for anyone to express their emotions during any difficult time in our lives. We are available at all times to talk if you or friends need a place to talk and/or need resources.

WVU Believe Them would like to acknowledge the disgraceful overturning of Roe v. Wade by the Supreme Court. This ruling strips a multitude of states from the constitutional protection of the ability to have a safe abortion. This ruling greatly affects our country as a whole, the state of West Virginia, and those on our very campus. Due to Roe v. Wade being overturned, West Virginia state code §61-2-8 will be reinstated. The code states, “Any person who shall administer…any drug or other thing…to produce abortion or miscarriage…shall be guilty of a felony.” The law ends with an exception in the case that the act is “done in good faith, with the intention of saving the life of such woman or child.” WVU Believe Them voices our support to those currently experiencing the vast emotions that come with being stripped of our reproductive rights. We want to reiterate that WVU Believe Them is a safe space for anyone to express their emotions during any difficult time in their life. If you are currently experiencing mental health struggles due to the current events, you are not alone. The Carruth Center is open for walk-in services from 9am to 9pm, Monday through Friday. They can also be reached at (304)-293-4431, 24/7.
