Fresh Start Self-Improvement Center is excited to offer FREE summer meals for all children and teens 18 years old and under! Our goal is to make sure every child in our community has access to nutritious meals while school is out. 🍔🍎🥤

At the 2nd Annual Prevention Day event, Charleston C2000 Coalition recognized local businesses and they received Certificates of Recognition for not selling alcohol and to***co products to young people under the age of 21 and supporting one of Charleston C2000's goals of prevention & reduction of alcohol & drug use.

Businesses recognized were:

On May 13, 2026 the 2nd Annual Prevention Day at AD Simpson Park was a huge success! We had over 38 vendors in attendance, over 400 individuals who participated, and enjoyed the free food, door prizes, music entertainment, bouncy houses for the kids, and lots of information was shared on alcohol and drug prevention; as well as health information.

Fresh Start would like to give a huge thanks to our sponsors: Missouri Foundation for Health, Office of Minority Health, FOCUS Bank, Citizens Bank, Community Health Commission of Missouri, Home State Health, Mississippi County Health Department, Unilever Ice Cream, Susanna Wesley Family Learning Center, Healthy Blue, Family Counseling Center, and Gibson Center for Behavioral Health.

On May 8th, Fresh Start Self Improvement Center had the opportunity to visit Charleston High School and distribute snack bags to students who participated in the Missouri State Student Survey.

We want to thank every student who took the time to participate and share their voices. Your input matters and helps create better opportunities, programs, and support for youth in our communities.

We also want to give a special thank you to Charleston High School administration and staff for welcoming us and allowing us to be part of this experience. We truly appreciate the continued support and partnership as we work together to encourage and uplift our youth.

It's almost here! Our 2nd Annual Prevention Day event! Don't miss out on all the great things going on at AD Simpson Park tomorrow, Wednesday, May 13, 2026 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

We have over 30 vendors signed up and are excited to see everyone! We will have a FREE t-shirt to the first 200 visitors signed in, bouncy houses, free hot dogs and hamburgers, FREE giveaways from the vendors, free frozen treats, a FREE Mobile Food Pantry from the SEMO Food Bank, door prizes, raffles, youth prizes, and much more!!!

Charleston High School Class of 2026 graduates. 💙🎓

Many of these students have come through the Fresh Start Self Improvement Center programs over the years from after-school activities, tutoring, summer programs, mentoring, basketball, community nights, and so many memories in between. We’ve had the privilege of watching them grow from young kids into strong, determined young adults.

We’ve seen them overcome obstacles, push through hard seasons, discover their confidence, and continue showing up even when life wasn’t easy. Their stories are filled with resilience, growth, laughter, lessons, and perseverance.

To our graduates:
Never forget how far you’ve already come. Your journey has inspired so many people around you, and this is only the beginning. Continue chasing your dreams, believing in yourselves, and making your community proud. The world needs your gifts, your voices, and your purpose.

Thank you for allowing Fresh Start to be a small part of your story over the years. Watching you succeed has been one of the greatest blessings.
