Speech and Debate is a combination of public speaking, debating, and acting all in one!
Although the events are different, they all share a common element of selling a point or theme using presentation, but it is so much more than that. In Speech and Debate, both competitors and judges get the opportunity to be educated on current events and international affairs, exposed to stories that originate from all over the world, as well as gain the ability to think and act quickly and speak with confidence in front of people.
Outside of the competitive settings, team members get the chance to build community with one another and create relationships with people who share similar interests and ideas.
As a whole, Speech and Debate is an incredible opportunity to develop skills, expand one’s perspective of the world, and make unique friendships.
