This Labor Day, we’re especially grateful for the people whose work changes lives.
We’ve seen firsthand just how many caring, dedicated people can stand behind each child’s journey — and how much can happen when a community comes together to help. Cristian’s story is one beautiful example.
We first met Cristian and his family at the end of 2023, as they were working toward a heart procedure he needed. Along the way, we’ve watched so many people come together around them.
Last month, after a long journey, that day finally came.
It took a community to get there — doctors and nurses, social workers and hospital staff, advocates, donors and community partners, along with a family that never stopped advocating for their child.
And sometimes, care goes far beyond the job description. One of Cristian’s nurses even made sure a donated birthday cake was waiting for him after his procedure.
Cristian’s story is just one of many that remind us how much care, work and compassion happen behind the scenes — whether a child needs heart care, dental care, preventative care, or simply help finding the right resources.
Today, we celebrate all of those people — and all those whose hard work, compassion and dedication make our communities stronger every day.
