This moment… this ribbon… this little clinic we’re about to open together — it represents something truly beautiful happening in our community. It represents what can happen when people choose compassion, when they choose to show up, and when they choose to believe that every neighbor deserves care, dignity, and a place to be seen.
For years, we’ve heard our neighbors share stories that stayed with us long after the conversation ended. Stories of doing their best while facing impossible choices. Stories of putting off care because there was nowhere to go. Stories of strength, yes — but also stories that made us say, deep in our hearts, we can do better for our community.
And today, we did.
The Clinic at The Neighbor Project is more than a new service. It is a promise kept. It is a warm, welcoming space where someone can walk in and feel, maybe for the first time in a long time, that they matter. That they are not alone. That their health, their well‑being, and their future are worth investing in.
This clinic exists because so many people believed in that promise. Our partners at Shenandoah Community Health,WVU Medicine, and Everhart Counseling brought not just expertise, but heart. Our donors and volunteers gave their time, their resources, and their belief in what’s possible. To our board who provided leadership throughout this process. And our staff — the people who show up every single day with compassion and grit — you are the reason this dream became real.
To our neighbors: you are the reason we do this work. You inspire us. You teach us. You remind us what community truly means. This clinic is for you, and because of you.
Today, as we cut this ribbon, we’re not just opening a door. We’re opening a new chapter — one filled with warmth, dignity, and the kind of care every person deserves. We’re opening a space where healing can begin, where hope can grow, and where neighbors can walk in and feel welcomed exactly as they are.Shenandoah CommunityWVU Medicine Jefferson Medical Center
