Jefferson County Community Ministries

Jefferson County Community Ministries We are dedicated to empowering individuals and strengthening our community through comprehensive social services. Jefferson County Community Ministries, Inc.

We believe that all individuals should be treated with dignity, mercy and grace. (JCCM) is a cooperative ministry of local churches to assist people in need. Assistance is provided on a limited scale for short-term emergencies in an effort to enable people to work out permanent solutions for meeting their own needs.JCCM can provide assistance with food, clothing, and limited financial aide aimed t

oward meeting essential expenses including rent, utilities, medicine, heating fuel, and gasoline. Assistance is provided by referring those persons who qualify to appropriate agencies, providing resources donated or purchased for this purpose such as food and clothing, and through arrangements with local vendors who accept checks or credit vouchers. JCCM combines the compassion and the resources of the participating churches into a central location. It ensures availability of resources, unnecessary duplication in services by churches and other community agencies, and enables a greater stewardship of money and other resources. Mission Statement

Peer recovery services change lives — not just through treatment referrals, but through connection, trust, and lived experience. When neighbors walk through our doors seeking stability, having someone beside them who truly understands the journey makes all the difference.

Since February, JCCM’s Peer Recovery Support Specialist Gerald has been hard at work walking with our neighbors every step of the way:

✨ 184 peer recovery appointments provided
🌱 8 neighbors supported in entering outpatient recovery programs
🏥 4 neighbors connected to inpatient treatment
🏠 3 neighbors moved into permanent housing

This is what dignity‑centered recovery looks like — meeting people where they are, honoring their story, and helping them take the next step toward stability and hope.

Recovery is possible. Community makes it stronger.

Couldn't let Friday go by without sharing some AMESOME news with you guys. Recently one of our shelter residents began a new position in home health. She was very excited to return to the workforce but even more excited to become certified to do this work. She shared today that she passed her certification exam yesterday with a 97%!!!! One step closer to meeting her long term goals.

Our Executive Director had the super fun pleasure of getting to brainstorm with a group of rising seniors from across West Virginia. The group has been working all week on their plan to convert an old shopping mall into a shelter, really bright young people and super encouraging to see the energy they put forth in creative problem-solving. Thank You to the Rising Leaders program at Shepherd University for including JCCM.

JCCM Intake Department: Meeting Neighbors Where They Are
Every week, new households walk through our doors seeking support, stability, and hope — and JCCM’s Intake Department is here to welcome them with dignity and compassion.

💛 Nearly 500 intake appointments every month
🏠 About 7 new households each week beginning their journey toward stability
🤝 Trauma‑informed, person‑centered support from the very first conversation

Our intake team, lead by Bethany, is often the first step toward food security, housing, employment, and long‑term case management. Their work is the heartbeat of JCCM’s mission — ensuring every neighbor is seen, heard, and supported
